More Tyranny Plus More Taxes Equals More Protests

As early as 1733, Colonial frustrations were felt against the British Parliament via the Molasses Act. Indignation grew over the decades, erupting in 1764, when Parliament enacted the Sugar Act and the Currency Act. But it was not until 1765, when Parliament levied the first direct tax upon the Colonies via the Stamp Act, that larger protests permeated all 13 Colonies. And though that tax was repealed in 1766, the appeasement was short-lived. Parliament passed the Townshend Acts beginning in 1767, placing a tax on a number of essential goods, including paper and tea — something which, in turn, led to the Boston Massacre in 1770, the Boston Tea Party in 1773, the Intolerable Acts and the First Continental Congress in 1774 and, of course, the Declaration of Independence in 1776.

What's so amazing is that no matter how vast Parliament's control and taxation upon the colonists were back then, it all pales in significance to Washington's control and taxation upon Americans today.

Some are rejoicing over the passing of Obamacare, but their joy certainly will turn to mourning once they've experienced the trickling down of related costs and taxes over the years.

Let me summarize. Americans for Tax Reform have pulled from Obamacare legislation 20 taxes coming down the pike (with references to the location in the law and the dates the taxes begin) that will be paid by every American in one way, shape or form.

Of course, with President Barack Obama's promise not to raise taxes on the lower and middle classes — combined with the report last week that 47 percent of citizens pay no federal taxes at all — half the readers of this column might feel momentarily immune to the coming increases in taxation. Unfortunately, such financial resistance will be short-lived.

That is why the White House sent out three of its biggest financial guns this past week on three consecutive days to prepare the way for tax increases that will be coming soon to your neighborhood.

First, White House economic adviser Paul Volcker said the feds should consider imposing a "value-added tax" similar to those charged in Europe to help get the deficit under control. He emphatically declared, "If at the end of the day, we need to raise taxes, we should raise taxes."

Second, Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke warned that in order to prevent overwhelming budget deficits that will suffocate economic growth, Americans must accept higher future taxes and less in entitlement benefits: "To avoid large and ultimately unsustainable budget deficits, the nation will ultimately have to choose among higher taxes, modifications to entitlement programs such as Social Security and Medicare, less spending on everything else from education to defense, or some combination of the above."

Third, Congressional Budget Office Director Douglas Elmendorf affirmed that the nation's fiscal situation is "unsustainable" and requires major changes.

Isn't it just ironic that after raising the national debt again by trillions over the past year and passing Obamacare (more entitlements), the feds are warning us that if Americans don't pay down the national debt and lessen their future entitlement benefits, America will suffer economic collapse (again)? Is any American really naive enough to believe that Washington is not going to raise taxes?

My frustration with Washington's deplorable status and solutions is what prompted me to film my latest PSA ("patriot service announcement"), which was uploaded last Thursday on YouTube under the title "Black Belt Patriotism."

What we need now more than ever are smaller government and lower taxes.

But the present Washington regime is not going to enact such reductions. In fact, it's going to continue a rampage of the opposite. That is why we need to elect in November only leaders who will slash government spending and refuse to pay for programs that we cannot afford. We all must fight (once and for all and across the board) to elect fiscally prudent politicians like our Founders, those like Thomas Jefferson, who brought down the national deficit though making the Louisiana Purchase and engaging the U.S. in a war with Tripoli.

And we need to continue to fight for a taxation system similar to that established by our Founders. They did not penalize productivity through taxes the way we do today. The best answer is still to abolish the Internal Revenue Service, sweep away the present tax code and implement a flat tax or fair tax that lives up to its name — a simple consumptive-based tax system in which equity rules and from which no one can dodge or evade the dues. Let us all contact our representatives April 15 and demand it and fight for our republic at one of the hundreds of rallies across the country, including in Washington.

As patriots, we're not intimidated by power. We won't be demoralized by a few trying to demonize all of us. We're not going to disappear like a bad dream, because we love our country too much to let it sink without a fight. It's a patriot equation that we have learned and carry on from our forefathers: more tyranny + more taxes = more protests.

So shout it loud and proud this week: "We will remember in November!"

What you write is all very true, Chuck. However, a return to "the word of truth" 2 Timothy 2:15, will have to happen first. “And the king went up into the house of the LORD, and all the men of Judah and all the inhabitants of Jerusalem with him, and the priests, and the prophets, and all the people, both small and great: and he read in their ears all the words of the book of the covenant which was found in the house of the LORD. And the king stood by a pillar, and made a covenant before the LORD, to walk after the LORD, and to keep his commandments and his testimonies and his statutes with all their heart and all their soul, to perform the words of this covenant that were written in this book. And all the people stood to the covenant” 2 Kings 23:2-3. How you achieve that is 'something else' but I pray that God is merciful enough to the US to enable you to bring it about.

Hey Chuck,
Have you ever read how ancient Israel wanted change. They wanted a King like all other nations. They didn't want God to be King over them they wanted a human king to look up to. They didn't want a real champion of the weak. They wanted a man to rule over them.

I Samuel 8. 4 ¶ And all the elders of Israel gathered and came in to Samuel, to Ramah. 5 And they said to him, Behold, you have become old, and your sons have not walked in your ways. Now appoint a king to us, to judge us, like all the nations. 6 And the thing was evil in Samuel's eyes when they said, Give to us a king to judge us. And Samuel prayed to the Lord . 7 And the Lord said to Samuel, Listen to the voice of the people, to all that they say to you. For they have not rejected you, but they have rejected Me from reigning over them.8 According to all the works that they have done from the day I brought them up out of Egypt, even to this day, when they forsook Me and served other Elohims, so they are also doing to you.9 And now listen to their voice. Only, protesting you shall protest to them, and shall declare to them the privilege of the king who shall reign over them.10 And Samuel spoke all the Lord 's Words to the people who were asking a king from him.11 And he said, This is the privilege of the king who shall reign over you. He shall take your sons and shall appoint them for himself among his chariots, and among his horsemen. And they shall run before his chariots.12 And he will appoint for himself heads of thousands, and heads of fifties; and to plow his plowing, and to reap his reaping; and to make weapons for war for him, and weapons for his charioteer.
13 And he will take your daughters for perfumers, and for cooks, and for bakers.14 And he will take your fields, and your vineyards, and your olive-yards, the best, and give them to his servants.15 And he will tithe your seed and your vineyards, and will give them to his eunuchs and to his servants.16 And he will take your male slaves and your slave-girls, and the best of your young men, and your asses, and will use them for his own work.17 He will tithe your flock, and you will be servants to him.18 And you will cry out in that day because of your king whom you have chosen for yourselves. And the Lord will not answer you in that day.19 And the people refused to listen to the voice of Samuel, and said, No, but a king shall be over us.20 And we shall be, even we, like all the nations. And our king shall judge us and shall go out before us and fight our battles.21 And Samuel heard all the words of the people, and spoke them in the ears of the Lord .22 And the Lord said to Samuel, Listen to their voice, and you shall cause a king to reign over them. And Samuel said to the men of Israel, Each of you go to his city.

Now we got change because that's what people wanted. And God allowed that to happen. But if we want to correct that change we need to do it right and accordingly to get rid of this man. We need a change in the human heart. We cannot look at any man for the answers. Only God can give us the right change of heart. And it is not in the heart of man to obey God. But Obama and his ilk, through the Democratic party despises what is good and right. And we need to change that again in the upcoming elections.

Mr. Norris, it is your right as an American citizen to protest the policies of any government body, or administration if you believe them to be wrong. It is not however right to refer to President Obama and his administration as a "regime". The citizens of the United States of America are a free people who duly elect their government. In this two party system, after EVERY election, we have one side who "wins" the representation they desire, and the other side who "loses" the representation they desire. This cycle goes on every 2, 4 and 6 years. The one thing you can count on is one side will win, and one will lose, but all who ran, all who stepped up to the plate to offer to lead, were brave and should be respected for this is how our Government and indeed our society works. On the day when because we did not vote for, nor do we agree with the policies of the opposing side, we take to referring to them as illegitimate as is a regime which comes from a forced change in government or a coup de etat, then I fear my friend, the country you speak of, the one Thomas Jefferson and the rest of the founding fathers sought to establish (or so some think, others may not agree with you on that premise, especially if they descended from slaves of Thomas Jefferson and the others) is already gone. It is a disgrace to refer to our government and our President as the leader of a Regime, no matter who it is, unless it is true, and certainly you are not suggesting that President Obama led a coup or a junta and overtook our nation and set himself up as dictator? Do you? If not, then why such inflammatory language where it is not needed? I am sure you can make your point without descending into such base and tawdry choices in language. Try harder Mr. Norris, you have an audience, though I am not sure yet why.
As for your arguments on Taxes, I would find you more credible as would the actual majority of Americans had this revolt against spending and taxes begun back in 2002, however, since it did not form until this President and decidedly unique US President came into office It is suspect in its nature and its direction. According to the NYT 52% of your Tea Party patriots feel what they pay in taxes is fair. Why just yesterday the headlines were that American tax rates are now the lowest they have been in 60 years, because of the Obama Tax Credits, The Recovery Act and the additional tax cuts penned by President Obama. So, Why not rail against your OWN elected leaders who lead us down this path years ago instead of going after the one who is leading us back. If what you want is really lower taxes, and what we have now is lower taxes, what is really the problem? The facts do show the economy is coming back.....slowly but surely. Acknowledgment of that fact would give you more credibility for the sky has not fallen, and we have not become that great and scary RED nation you and your cohorts predicted since before he was even elected. Admit it, we are and will be okay......Thanks to President Obama and the rest of us who still believe in America the Beautiful and that God loves a nation of people who love each other, for that really is his test you know.

Best wishes to you Mr. Norris, and I hope you get your movie career back or TV career back or anything that will take you out of politics, for yours is a voice America can do better without hearing if you have nothing better to day. Patriots are not what you make them out to be, and you don't hold the lock on being one!

Chuck,
Keep on what you are doing. Some people have their heads in the sand and don't want to face reality. People don't understand that our President is destroying this nation by his Socialistic and Marxist Policies. His way of doing things are destroying the fabric of our society. He wants us to lay die and down before our enemies, to give up our autonomy, to let the United Nations have rule over the US instead of Constitutional Law. And this is happening before our very eyes. He hates the Constitution. He is a Muslim in disguise. He hates Israel with a Passion and on and on and on. etc. Keep up the Good Work.
