A Personality Profile of Barack Obama's Leadership

Share Comment

Obama will not lose his bid for the presidency because of his connections to Ayers, ACORN or socialist politics. In fact, he won't lose it because of his stand on any issue. The coup de grâce for Obama's presidential election downfall will come only through convincing the American public of his lack of decisive leadership under pressure. I'm not just talking about facing rogue nations or terrorist thugs. I'm referring to making major choices in conflict. Indecisiveness is his greatest weakness, and it's one this country cannot afford at this time in its history.

Interestingly, a while back, the Unit for the Study of Personality in Politics, at St. John's University and the College of St. Benedict, did a professional personality profile "for anticipating Obama's likely leadership style as chief executive, thereby providing a basis for inferring the character and tenor of a prospective Obama presidency." The study concluded:

"The combination of Ambitious, Accommodating, and Outgoing patterns in Obama's profile suggests a confident conciliator personality composite. Leaders with this personality prototype, though self-assured and ambitious, are characteristically gracious, considerate, and benevolent. They are energetic, charming, and agreeable, with a special knack for settling differences, favoring mediation and compromise over force or coercion as a strategy for resolving conflict. They are driven primarily by a need for achievement and also have strong affiliation needs, but a low need for power."

While most might laud Obama's personality as a needed polar opposite to George W. Bush's, I pose to you that Obama's "accommodating-conciliator-favoring-compromise" personality pendulum swing is way too far to the other side. Even Obama's voting record proves that. His own Democratic colleagues have a difficult time understanding why, when he was an Illinois state senator, he voted "present" (instead of "yes" or "no") 129 times, including a number of noncommittal tallies on issues such as gun rights and abortion.

You also have heard that Obama doesn't have any executive experience, whether it be running a government or a business. I would pose to you the reason is simply that he's not comfortable making executive decisions. An "executive conciliator" overly depends upon others, at times compromising judgment and needed action in order to appease the masses. Proof of that was seen in how Obama handled his and our "emergency" economic decisions.

A few months ago, Obama did not turn to Warren Buffett for counsel on the housing crisis. As The Washington Post reported July 16, he turned to Franklin Raines, the former Fannie Mae chief executive officer and six-year money manipulator.

The Post said Raines took "calls from Barack Obama's presidential campaign seeking his advice on mortgage and housing policy matters."

And consider Obama's handling of the "emergency" bailout crisis. During the first go-round of the bailout, while McCain was certain of his stand, Obama wouldn't say where he stood because he was afraid it would be a wrong or unpopular stand. Only after most of his political cronies were bribed in favor of the bailout did Obama give it his stamp of approval. If he cannot take decisive action as a senator in the greatest nation on earth, how in the world is he going to make critical and emergency decisions as the president?

Obama's inability to draw and hold hard lines is the primary reason he repeatedly struggles with — and caves and morphs into — the polls or people in front of him. More than any other politician in history, he has flip-flopped on a host of critical issues: Iraq, Iran, gay rights, NAFTA, abortion, race, religion, gun control, etc. It's one thing to be political, but it's quite another to be a chronic people pleaser under pressure. Swaying based on political expediency is not a leadership quality we need in tough times. Sooner or later, that character flaw will bite Obama big-time — and us if we elect him president.

I'm not saying Obama has no continued future in politics. He just needs more experience in life to weed out those character deficiencies. That's why I'm asking Americans to look afresh at these questions: Is Obama crisis-leadership qualified? Will he truly be ready Jan. 20 to assume the helm of our country?

Actually, those leadership questions have been answered already by three leading Democrats (before they could taste the perks from their alignment with the Democratic presidential nominee). Obama's own running mate, Sen. Joe Biden, replied only months ago about whether Obama is ready for the presidency: "Right now I don't believe he is. The presidency is not something that lends itself to on-the-job training." Then he later told George Stephanopoulos, "I stand by the statement." Biden was right.

Before Obama was her party's choice, Hillary Clinton repeatedly proved him to be an indecisive waffler who couldn't or wouldn't be pinned down on any issues. Hillary was right.

Even former President Bill Clinton dodged having to give an affirmative answer to an ABC correspondent when asked whether Obama is ready to be president by saying, "You can argue that no one is ready to be president." Another smooth answer, Bill. The fact is he totally understands that Obama is not ready.

America is in one of its toughest hours — a market meltdown, the worst fiscal environment since the Great Depression — an economic 9/11, if you will. Do we really believe we can be delivered by an indecisive people pleaser as our country's CEO?

Your argument has appeal until I look at the other candidate and his running mate. None of you have been able to make the case for McCain or for Palin. And I mean that. You can't make the case, McCain can't make his own case and you and he know it. Now no one tries. They just attack Obama. Don't you know if the Republican's had had a good candidate he'd probably be where Barak is now. McCain is not that man. We all fear change and we're all fearful for the future and yes, we understand Mr. Obama is not the best man for the job. He's the only man for the job. If you'd presented us with better options, you'd probably have had a better outcome.

Sir;... If the drug companies made a reality pill, I would forge a prescription for you... Consider how broke we are, living on credit as a nation and as so many individuals, seeing the life sucked out of this land to pay interest... Maybe there is a place for conciliation... Maybe it is time to look for friends.... I don't care what you call it, Socialsim, Communisim, or Moralism; but if the rich paid in taxes for the control they have over government, they would be certain to not throw their money around like they throw ours... Labor carries the country. ..Always has and always will... If you guys want to govern; govern well... Pay your own bills, and don't ride labor to the dump...The people have never had control of this country, but we have suffered every stupid move the rich have made... Consider yourself... Did an extra dollar in your pocket ever make you smarter??? If it did you must have been dim to start with, because you are still no shining light... You just want to protect what you got... Well join the crew...We all want to keep what we have worked for...We don't want to see our wealth thrown away for foreign adventures...We want fair wages so we don't have to live on credit... And we want democracy... You can throw a bunch of well tried dirty words at it, but you only get dirt on you...Be a man...Understand that we NEED justice, and NEED democracy because if we leave control of our lives to your rich friends they will ride us to death, and ruin us as a country...We defend their rights...We defend your rights...But wealth and property are only forms of relationship... If the relationship does not work we cannot be expected to hang with it, suffering, so ya'all can go on making things worse... We need justice and democracy because left to your own plans, we are ruined... Thanks... Sweeney

I can't say I think either one of the people at the top of these tickets are best candidates for the job but they are the 2 we are given. So all I can do is to vote for life and leave the rest to the Lord. May God protect this Great Nation and His people!

Re: Lola Mathuews; Ma'am,... I vote for life too... I support the living. I don't care what sort of ideals people follow as long as they work for the living... The foundling fodders had the government of their dreams, but a change here and there and now it works not at all... But if you are suggesting anyone should give rights to the unborn, it will never fly... There never was a place on the planet where people alive had no rights, and people unborn did have rights... I wouldn't mind it exactly...This ought to be a good world to be unborn in too... I have met many unborn and I must say they had more to recommend them than many of the living... Maybe they should decide all issues..Forget having people long dead run the world... Consult with the unborn... Consult with the unconcieved... People used to look for auspicius signs in the entrals of animals or the flights of birds... We could do that... Ask the embryo... Ask the zygote... Ask the fetus... I will offer that if the world is not fit for them, it is not fit for us... If their parents cannot afford them, they cannot afford their own lives... If their mothers would submit to slavery they could be used to carry future slaves to term... What do you think of that idea Ma'am??? Would you submit to life without hope to bring a child into a life without hope; because I want a life with hope for all people, and then I think no one would mind bringing a child into such a world... Thanks...Sweeney

You are right, Chuck. Obama is one of the US's most indecisive politicians when it comes to voting on anything in the Senate.
On one of the relatively few times he has voted, it was in favour of fining and imprisoning a homeowner in Wilmot, Chicago, Illinois, who had killed a masked robber he caught in his children's bedroom at night. The robber had carried out thefts from the premises two weeks before. When confronted inside the house, the robber was carrying a loaded weapon.
Evidently, Obama wants to support that kind of individual, as well as spreading your hard-earned savings around,

'FAIR TAX', TO INCLUDE PROPERTY TAXES & 'CHANGE VOTING LAWS' SHOULD BE TOP PRIORITY,
while there's still a little common sense left in White House!

Obama has no concept of what it takes to run a business, let alone our Country! America
doesn't have time to give Obama on the job training, let alone ‘try' to help him figure out
what it takes to make America prosper! Obama isn't a beacon of hope! Obama is another
disaster waiting to happen! He's never been in military, has no concept of military and wars!
Obama thinks by sitting down with the terrorists, who wants to kill Americans, and discuss
his ‘plans to stop the wars' that he'll create some sort of understanding. Taxpayers know
this is the quickest way to bring about another 9/11, except this time it might be worldwide?

Taxpayers, of all races, have lost respect for Democrats who've done nothing constructive! The social
and welfare programs benefiting illegitimates having more illegitimates started the downfall of morals and
principles and the downfall of America!
The ‘bailout' of Fannie, Freddie, AIG and now the Big 3 automakers. It's time for all these high-dollar
idiots to file Bankruptcy, step back, fire many, and re-group, as there's no manufacturing or
textiles jobs left in America. FOLKS, THESE HARD-WORKING TAXPAYERS WERE THE 'HEARTBEAT
OF AMERICA' AND buyers of many things that's no longer left in America. Before the politicians
finish putting the icing on the cake, America is bankrupt!

Folks, The disaster started in 1977! Taxpayers have a right to blame Carter, Clinton and
the ‘Tax & Spenders' who've borrowed trillions from foreign countries thus putting
Americans further at risk. Let's not forget about ‘Nafta' and ‘Cafta' and the shifting of
America's jobs overseas!

Taxpayers have been reading about this ‘new movement and more informed voters these
people are calling themselves'. If you think school loans, social and welfare benefits are
going to be a free ride from Obama, let me be the first to burst your bubble. Obama's
pockets are deeper than McCains! So guess which candidate will help you? Time's up!
WON'T BE OBAMA! Millions of dollars just sent to Chicago and you want Taxpayers to
believe that you're more informed?

FOR SECURITY REASONS, & AMERICA'S FUTURE, THERE'S NO TIME TO GIVE OBAMA ‘ON-
THE-JOB TRAINING'!

Chuck Norris, Thought you might enjoy a little humor, but yet serious, to go with the gloom and doom
created by millions of dollars for social and welfare programs to illegitimates!

Taxpayers are fed up with all the trillions of their hard-earned money being thrown to the wind! The
following is a humorous way to describe what's happened in government and the downfall of America
that's been created by the‘Tax and Spenders' just so they can get re-elected! I'm quoting:

“I bought a bird feeder. I hung it on my back porch. I filled it with seed. I admired the beauty of
this bird feeder, as I filled it lovingly with seed. Within a week, hundreds of birds were
taking advantage of the continuous flow of free and easily accessible food.

But then the birds started building nests in the boards of the patio, above the table, and next to the
barbecue. Then came the poop. It was everywhere: on the patio tile, the chairs, the table, even on
gutters and window seals!

Then some of the birds turned mean. They would dive bomb and try to peck me even though I had
fed them out of my own pocket.

And others birds were boisterous and loud. The sat on the feeder and squawked and screamed
all hours of the day and night and demanded that I fill the bird feeder when it got low on food.

After a while, I couldn't even sit on my own back porch. So I took down the bird feeder and in three
days the birds were gone. I cleaned up their mess. I took down the many nests they had built all over
the patio.

Soon, the back yard was like it used to be ... quiet, serene and no one demanding their “rights to a free
meal!”

Now let's see .... Our government gives out free food, subsidizes housing for illegitimates, having more
illegitimates, free medical care, free education and allows anyone born to be an automatic citizen.

Then the illegals come by the tens of thousands. Suddenly taxes are tripled just to pay for free services;
small apartments are housing 5 families with illegitimates; Taxpayers have to wait 6 hours to be seen
by an emergency room doctor; your child's 2nd grade class is behind other schools because over half
the class doesn't speak English.

Check you cereal boxes. They now come in a bilingual box. I have to 'press one' to hear my bank talk
to me in English. People waving flags other than 'Old Glory' are squawking and screaming in the
streets, demanding more rights and free liberties.

Just my opinion, but maybe it's time for Taxpayers to make government take down the bird feeder.
