What you have perhaps missed is that speaking truth to power has long been within the province of the court jester. Presdient Bush is loathe to have on in the White House, but John Stewart and Steven Colbert are filling the position admirably.

If the mainstream media wants real respect, let them earn it. For the past seven years plus, that media has done nothing but dodge the issues and whimper over why it hasn't held the Bush/Cheney administration to accountability.
