Not all educators are Kool-aid drinkers -though most are. This is a good time to drive a wedge between them and their Marxist "culture of death" leadership in the NEA. Truth is embarassing -use it!

Farmington is a town in northern New Mexico, not Utah.

Perhaps Obama will make the trains run on time. Then, years hence after the left has destroyed the country, there will be something that we can latch on to that will place his rule in a better light. I recently watched a series on the History International Channel on Direct TV which followed the pathway to power that Hitler, Mussolini, and Franco took. There is an eerie similarity between the methods that these dictators used to co-opt the media and the school systems of their respective nations, and the methods being used by Obama. The idea of creating czars to oversee various aspects of government, using the justice department to attack areas that one is attempting to control, forcing government into every crevice and crack in the economy, nationalizing as much of the money supply as possible, and, finally, issuing palliative statements that approve everything being done as help for the people which should be recognized by a "patriotic" population. I won't bother with the Santayana quotation that has been tossed around so freely for the past 50 years. I will say this, though. Any person who would actually give credence to Bill Ayers as an "educator", and to Obama as a genuine American probably will lose the fight in the long run, and, perhaps, deserves to.

Good grief, Mikey, go eat something!
Farmington is in Utah, NM, Michigan, Missouri, and several other states. I'll assume Michelle was talking about the one in Utah -- just like she said.

Michelle, I am totally against BHO using our public school system this way. We would love to Home School; however, it is hard to fight the school system to allow it. Too, we don't have enough money to put them in private school. We pay very high property taxes and other taxes to support the school system in WV.....but, they will not even help my grandson who has asperger's disorder. In middle school, they had him sleep in the clinic instead of calling the family to come and get him. After much time and effort, he met a Kanawha County teacher at a local library two nights aweek for 3 hours....He only gets 6 hours of a one on one with a teacher. He has a child avocate; the teacher said it is was a shame as He is highly intelligent and he has to be treated like he is being warehoused. My son and daughter in law are trying through a legal aid society to help them get him paid computer classes at home. He is in the 8th grade, school started on Aug. 26 and He yet to get any books or instruction. He is waiting.....while lawyers and teacher at his Middle School do nothing............The school system is fighting them about giving him home schooling;however, his teachser upset him; they make fun of him and he will shut down if he goes to class....they make fun of him reading while they teach......He makes A and Bs in AP classes....the one on one teacher says he knows more about the subjects than I do....and I hate to see him sit at home everyday...6 hours of teacher input......his own teachers thinks it is a SHAME on the School System. School Systems are so you are a number; they don't have any human feelings for these children. He has to see a psychologist and psychrists every month......which cost and his psycholologist will not go back into the hostitle environment...She said he may go to college if he gets help with the social issues.....Marshall University helps Asperger's student 6 to 12 months getting reading for college prior to their Freshman Years.....They focus on scheduling, calendarings, and homework study.....and socializing with other Asperger's students....He is such a great young man and so sweet; He just can't handle change...he has to live in a routine environment which the teachers will not help he do......they just want to make him angry so they can send him out of the classroom...I have little respect for the school systems that provide lifetime jobs with no effort to help students....sad in America

Humans have an inherent trait to survive (fight or flight comes to mind) and it's loss, or surrender, must obviously be learned. The American people have simply been lied to many times under the flag of diversity and tolerance, and what we see with regard to Bo's address to young scholastics is merely more of the same. When I recall known history I find his actions most disturbing! The essay type letters proposed to be written by these youthful persons, along with any questions proposed by their teachers, could be brought back later to jog their natural sense of responsibility and accountability. An arguement could be made, however, that to go against one's beliefs, especially those made in one's own hand writing, could be seen as an internal conflict and thus a flaw. Just as one can not flee from their own words, one also might not choose to fight them! Of course there will be little to no accounting for life experience. Excellent atricel, Michelle! Kudos to you for bringing this "below the radar" happening to our attention! Thank you!!

We have heard all about what kind of people Barack Obama surrounds himself with. We can no longer give
him the benefit of the doubt. One is more radical than the other. They all have a common denominator,
Third World Communist views. The arrogance of President Obama to put this element in the White House.
This proves to the American People that he also shares these views.
Something bothered me about him visiting schools. I realized what bothered me, he attended a religious
Muslim School in Indonesia as a child. This is usually the brain-washing age. Then as you know, he moved
to Pakistan for about 4 years, where young men receive their training to fight the Western Infidels.
He then came to the United States to attend our Ivy League Colleges to learn our culture. Unfortunately,
Harvard and Columbia Universities have their share of anti-capitalist, anti-American advocates.
Now, after all that exposure including his pastor, Rev Wright, we are to believe he doesn't agree with
any of this. Now look at his hand picked Czars. I'm sure he wants to recruit young children especially
from poor neighborhoods, for his Private Army. I believe that President Obama was raised & bred
to infultrate our government. Sadaam Hussein also liked to surround himself with children and had
a Private Army of loyal followers. My theory must sound very radical. I came to this conclusion based
on what we know about him. His life is a mystery for the first 20 years, and because of race, you have
to be careful to ask questions. When you think about the step by step plan of his career, it's pretty clever.
He knew he would not be elected as a Muslim. He had to use the Black Christian Church as a front. He has
denounced Christianity several times when he was abroad. He did not attend The Annual Christian Lunch
in the White House. He did attend the Muslim breakfast. No one in their right mind would spend
money and add to the deficit the way he is unless he is purposely weakening our economy. Rosanna

Do you all actually believe a 30 minute speech delivered over cable TV is enough to brainwash your children? Do you have any idea what the entire process of brainwashing entails? You all make pretensions to having historical understanding of the fascist state, yet you all talk as if Obama=Hitler is a foregone conclusion just because you say so and because your shining light of bigotry and prevarication over at the EIB network said so (HE retracted parts of what he was intimating). READ!!!!! STUDY!!!!!! Then open your mouths. You on the right were appalled when Bush was treated with disrespect. Never mind that he lied our way into a war that's killed hundreds of thousands of people. Why can he go to a school and read to kids and you not tell parents to keep their kids home? Fess' up. you want this President to look like a pedophile to your children. Bush said he became president because God willed it? So, how about Obama and Clinton? Was God on vacation? Wake up! This is the land of free speech and open discussion. Let your kids hear what he has to say and then talk it over with them. You're the fascists! You're censoring and fear-mongering. You don't like our schools? Do the right conservative thing: pull your kids out and throw them to the market that educates for profit!!!!! It cures everything.

Hey Rosanna,
Must be Bush wanted our economy to fail, too. Check out his deficits. In fact, the Wall Street, bank, and GM bailouts are all charged to him. Obama's life's a mystery? Wasn't a mystery to McCain. Much to the chagrin of the left, he kept our National Day of Prayer. Want to hint about fascist domestic policy? What of Bush and his wire-tapping, what of the fact we lost the 4th amendment under him? What about Cheney who wiped his muddied feet with our Constitution when he said one day he was part of the Executive Branch and the next day he wasn't? What about Bush and his National Guard record? What about the fact that freedom of thought has been eroded by the nervousness caused by the 2007 law on Homegrown Terrorists? And, what about Bush who screamed that the "Constitution is just a GD'D piece of paper?"

We used to look up to Uncle Sam.

Now, it seems, school kids are to look up to Uncle Barry...

Ok. I'm not even going to address any of that Bill Ayers nonsense, solely intended to freak people out. Let's address what the real issue aught to be: Our schools are in huge trouble. One place Michelle mentions in the article, Farmington, UT, is in the Davis school district. Here is what Wikipedia has to say about Davis schools: "In 2006, Davis School District received recognition for having the nation's top graduation rate among the 100 largest school districts in the United States, according to a survey by the New York City-based Manhattan Institute."

Conversely, where I live, in Buffalo, NY, the graduation rate *went up* last year to 52%. 52%!! And that was an IMPROVEMENT from the year before, when it was at 45%. Thank God, I say, that the President is making this speech. Thank God he is committed to education. Bless him for saying, in a nutshell, "I'll back you up, I'll provide the funding you need, but you need to stick to it and focus. Work hard. Don't give up and don't drop out. These other kids did it, they overcame huge obstacles. I did it. It can be done. You have talents, you need an education. Don't let yourself down, don't let your country down. You're important. We need you."

In Farmington, where it seems everything is fine, it's all good for them not to show it in the classroom. Go ahead & ignore this speech, Farmington! You're doing things right, congratualtions! For most of the rest of the country, we need to hear these things. We BADLY need to hear these things, take what the President says to heart, make some goals and follow through.
