Judge Sotomayor has the experience and qualifications that make her a good pick for the Supreme Court. That being said, those who object to her appointment want to brand her an "activist" judge. What could be more "activist" than stopping vote counting in Florida in the 2000 election?

As the first person I have seen to step up and defend Obama's appointment I have to give kudos. However, I think that this nomination is dead wrong. As a Supreme Court Justice everything you do has to be above board. Reading through some of her more prominent previous cases a lot of them seem to have vague reasons for denial. These vague reasons could mean she is overly swamped or that she doesn't care. As for qualifications, being born rich or poor, immigrant or natural born should not even come to be a factor in things like this. Ultimately they will be but they shouldn't be toted as important items. That is the same as saying that I picked my employees because they all came from poor families. Though it seems honorable and feasibly I could find good employees from the poor community, I doubt that every qualified applicant would be poor. I am staying away from the race card because it also should not be a factor. The fact that Joe and others are using it as a political weapon means they should not be in control. "If they vote out our canidate then they will lose voter support, if they approve our canidate well she is our canidate and we did put in the first Latina." I don't think she will do a bad job but I definetly think Obama and others have their priorities out of whack
