When Barbarians Take Hostages
by David Sirota
As a central villain in the famous book "Barbarians At the Gate," Henry Kravis has become one of the world's richest mavens of private equity — the Wall Street sector that buys up companies, breaks them apart and sells their assets. In 2006, Kravis made $450 million, or more per hour ($51,000) than the average American household makes in a year. Incredibly, his wealth puts him right within the average for executives in this largely unregulated industry that oversees about $400 ...

This is an excellent article. Thank you. And now if we can only get some of the middle class to realize what is really going on. I am in the process of reading a funny but at the same time a sad book written by Joe Bageant entitled Deer Hunting with Jesus -- Dispatches from America's Class War. As you mentioned on the back cover, this is a "glimpse into the vicious class war that is too often ignored or hidden by those happily perperating this war." Your aricles and book are enlightening and most welcome.

Good aftermoon, Mr. Sirota.
This is almost at the level of the Telecom Immunity flim flam we seem to be getting hustled into, Dodd or no.
My crystal ball (hunting accident) sez we'll see lots more of this before the elections.

While there is no gainsaying there is massive corruption and incompetence in the American Government and economy, singling out Henry Kravis strikes me as similar to pre WW II Germany's blaming the Jews for their woes. Scapegoating others is a convenient way for unethical people like Roger Moore and Robert Greenwald to claw their way to the top, but pandering the the worse impulses of the general public is immoral.
If you took the time to find out the facts about Henry Kravis, you'd find out that he is doing far more than Brave New Films does to find answers to the real problems besetting the nation.
If you want to look at an unholy alliance that destroys the property tax base, look at the CRA's in California (Community Redevelopment Agencies). The City of L.A. is bankrupt to the tune of $ 400 Million, while these socialist CRA's projects remove more and more productive real estate from the property tax base.
