What Obama Could Destroy

by Mona Charen

I was polled last night. Yes, it happens. I spent half an hour on the telephone with a representative of the Pew Research Center for the People & the Press. The results will be made public in a few days. One question stands out. They asked, "Do you know what Barack Obama's religion is?"

Don't you get the feeling that you can already write the post-election analysis if Obama loses? "A nation still unable to shake its legacy of racism and discrimination ... a nation so ...

I heard you on PBS last night Sunday 09/14/08 where you stated that you know of a hospital and a nurse that didn't give assistence to a baby that was aborted. You stated that you would name the hospital and nurse's names. Who you please name them for me. I will await your answer. Thank You

you have some serious issues. I love obama's health care plan. I have health insurance through the federal govt. it is wonderful and all americans should have an opportunity for the same. my share of the insurance for self and/or family is reasonable. when i was college (early 90s) i did my thesis on universal health care. without a doubt i believe then and now that universal health care is what's best for the millions of uninsured americans. only lobbyist and selfish people who do not belief saving lives especially uninsured children would disagree. now what is mccain's plan...who knows, it depends on the audience he's speaking to. what is palin's plan? i don't know or care. a mother who travels for business close to her due date with a child she knows has down syndrome and gets on the plan just so she can have the child in alaska and on top of that leave the child after 3 days to go back to work...that shows lack of character...and does not believe in abortion in the case of rape or the mothers health...she doesn't have a plan i'm interested in.

I saw you on c-span and there was a caller in which she compared the education of the candidates and how the LOGICAL choice should be with those who are the smartest. You dismissed her as a snob, I was very suprised. Let me ask you this, if the investment company you have your stocks in decided to allow someone to handle your portfolio who has the same educational background as Sarah Palin instead of the educational background of Barack Obama, I'm willing to guess that you wouldnt be so quick to accept that as you are now quick to accept Sarah Palin in the 2nd most powerful job in the world. Let me ask you this, whene was the last time you have offered your services pro bono to help a hungry family, or help out at the shelter or help the elderly with a need they have?? Majority of republicans have not nor do not bother themselves, they fill its someone elses job or responsility to help out. I dare say that you fall into that majority of "selfish, me and only me " generation. Yes true, Obama visions are out of the sixties BUT that was a time when america was growing working with each other. You on the otherhand are stuck in the 80's where the "greed is good" doctaraine prevails. The slogan works well "we cant take another 4 years of the same old thing.

September 11, 2001, apparently, didn't wake all Americans up from their ‘slumber party'? From the time Barack Obama, who never served in military, lacks credibility, knowledge, and experience, was sworn in as Senator, to the time he announced he was forming a Presidential committee, he'd logged in only 143 days! You cannot get a job at McDonalds and become Manager in 143 days; you cannot become a Colonel in military in 143 days; you cannot become a news anchor in only 143 days, but Obama thinks he deserves to be Commander in Chief, Leader of the Free World! Give me a break! Obama's televised town meetings, showing his resentment, anger, hate, and his usual statements, ‘Americans are Stupid', ‘Gun Toters', ‘I'll bring the troops home early' and the rest of his usual ‘hype' is only going to allow more terrorists to strike on American soil! It's a insult to hard-working Taxpayers to think politicians have created such a disaster on American soil! Trillions of dollars in debt, made by ‘Tax & Spend' politicians, it's obvious America has to change. Taxpayers feel the following would be the only ‘changes' needed to save America is to start by cutting local, state, and federal politicians time, salary, and freebies to one (1) month a year, eliminate public schools, ‘so-called' educational programs, social and welfare programs, non-profit organizations, and eliminate many other unnecessary programs that takes money from taxpaying families making it hard for them to live! By the way, where's Obama and his ‘tax and spend buddies' going to get all the money for a health care system and his other ‘hair-brained schemes' since approximately 20% of older Taxpayers are retired, 40% are working paying taxes while the other 40% lives off social and welfare programs now?

If you really want to see who Barack Obama really is go to: google and ask "who is James David Manning" , a black pastor, and listen to his video. But then, of course, hard-working taxpaying Americans already know who Obama really is and that he's getting the votes of "illegitimates" and the non-working, non-'taxpaying' people that shouldn't be allowed to vote. THINK ABOUT IT - IT'S CALLED 'DISCRIMINATION AGAINST TAXPAYERS!' TIME FOR 'FAIR TAX' AND 'CHANGE VOTING LAWS' - if you don't work, live off social and welfare programs, you're doing NOTHING constructive for America but creating terrorism on American soil, whuy should you be allowed to vote???

The healt-care system needs a huge revamp. Our health-care system is by far the most expensive (per capita per % of GDP). U.S. is only developed country (except South Africa) that does not provide health-care to all its citizens. According to WHO, OECD, and other organizations, we rank very low on many indicators of "good health-care". Thus, this rant about Norway, France, and others is at best misleading, at worst totally false. Obama actually has presented a plan for health-care reform, one which gives focus on prevention and cutting administrative costs. I did not hear any plan from McCain yet. It appears that he is for more of the same, highly expensive, insurance companies profits-driven health care.

First off, Murder for oil profits and defence contract profits (no bid needed to haliberton and family) is a insult to smart Americans that went to public schools before republicans and democrates destroyed them, and made private schools funding for only the rich to attend ( no Recruitement here). Millionaires are now billionaires and middle class Americans are poor and struggling. G Hitler bush is inexperenced, 4th grade mentallity, cocaine user, and an alcohlic has destroyed this country and owes Americans an apology for failing to protect us on 911(not mission accomplished) or wanted and let the attack happen for the wealth it has given him and his family and friends beyoond expectations. Then again bushs has done business with the binladen family for 35+ years, I call them all terrorist. Now to mccain, I called him every week pre 911 and post 911 about my wages falling do to illegal aliens destroying Americans wages, but corp. america was gaining wealth from it so ILLEGAL immageation was ok to mccain. Then 911 happened and are our borders closed, F NO!!!. Oh yea health care use to be affordable, now since it is about profits, people die every day with out care, unless you are illegal. Health care in America should be the best and free as a GOD given right!! not to bankrupt Americans, lose home they spend thier entire lives paying for!Because people get sick, do to the chemicals the Gov. lets corp. america put in our food, waters, air, ect... Nothing for the real tax payer, all for the wealthy, I am sure you are part of this group. SS taxes should be on 100% of all income with no limits and should never be used for any thing but SS ,that is steeling and they, our so called reps should have to pay it back personally, take the pentions they have and give all real Americans the plans they give to themselves and put them on SS. Abortions, Free country Free choice. I do not hear you say how many children (not to metntion all the adults) new born + are killed every day in Afganastanand (where bush and dick cut and ran for the oil in iraq) and Iraq . Which one is more DEAD a aborted baby or a burned to a crisp baby, or blown up baby, shreaded to pieces baby, which one is more DEAD????? have a answer for that, I would love to have one!! Fake Fear is un American, a fake war for profits is un American, open boarders for illegals and terrorist is un American. I will go on national TV to debate any one who supports a republican and will demand your answer in full, not scipted. I am not a R or D I am an AMERICAN and am tired the richest people running our country, and lies that you and others put out for wealth and control, all because of weakness of self need for greed. mccain flip flopped on many issues and I seen how he does not give a crap about Americans like me in the constuction and real estate industry, it has been destoyed. 911 is a fake fear to the American people, real Americans do not fear anything, we do smart thing to protect ourselves. Oh I just filled up with gas that was in the gas stations ground pre Ike land fall, but prices went to $4.45 fron 3.45 in 2 days? Murder and price fixing is un American. Love to here real answers from you Mona , you, not a pee on in your office staff. Warren, Sav, GA PS palin is a political move not a good pick for VP, smoke and mirrors, what ever it takes to keep control of stupid so called Americans!

Dear Mona: I cannot believe you are paid for the garbage that you write. You are right in there with the present administration, that is so out of touch with the real people of this country. The private Ins. companies should be decimated. Theirs is an industry that dictates what Drs. you may see, where to go for it. How long you can stay in the hospital. What drugs you can take, and they are able to change their minds at any times. If you lose your job and health Ins and have a pre-existing condition, you are in big trouble. If you talk to real people in other countries they will tell you they would never want our health care system, where you could go bankrupt over health costs. Tax credits will not pay for high premiums, if in fact you could even get it, especially if over 50. As a tax payer I pay for the governments health care, pay to educate their kids, pay for their multiple homes, food, clothes, health care, and other perks. I want the same health care benefits as they get, paid for with my tax monies. Insurance compies are aleady rationing our care, for their own profits. Also Dear Mona, how do you expect our country to pay its high debts, created by the present administration? With more tax breaks for the rich and big business. What new jobs are we creating here in the U.S. beside box stores and burger joints. Please provide a list . We could do more drilling, but can you guarantee the oil companies will not sell that oil to the highest bidder, say like China ? forget the surveys, done by and for who know what. Get on the phone, nationwide and call some Ins companies. Do not tell them who you really are, and see what the real scoop is. Also as far as the 280,000 Norweigians waitin g for health care, there are 40million Americans with no care available. By the way, how many Norwegians do you know ? I do not know any Princes or Sheiks coming here for treatment, but I do know thanks to us, they can well afford to. Get with it Mona.

Prior to writing an article on health care, you should at least get SOME facts correct. From a physician : USA does not have anywhere near the best system based on any criteria. An accepted ranking by virtually any caring (non-money driven) physician would rank Japan,Taiwan,Austria,Switzerland,denmark.....to name a few well ahead. And nobody goes bankrupt in those nations due to illness. For most Americans age 55-65 buying your wonderful private insurance,5000$ per couple will get you 3-4 months at most. Why are you so scared of Medicare? every senior citizen i know gladly hands their Medicare card and gets ANY care they need.Have you heard them complain about it or are you totally out of touch? And where did we get the arbitrary age of 65? What makes that age the gate to health care nirvana? What about 60? But I doubt you practice medicine----you consume on your wonderful "columnist group policy" Ever worry about health bankruptcy???
