Wanted: A Fighting Party
by Pat Buchanan
As was evident at the White House Correspondents' Dinner, it is deja vu, 1961, all over again. We have a young, cool, witty, personable president — and an adoring press corps.
"I am Barack Obama," the president introduced himself. "Most of you covered me. All of you voted for me. (Laughter and applause.) Apologies to the Fox table. (Laughter.)"
What is also evident is that, without its new superstar in the lineup, the Democratic Party is a second-divisi ...

I believe (and hope) that the Republican party is dead unless and until it thoroughly purges itself of the murderous neo-con cult.

Sir;...Much as we like to breeze ourselves that we have majority rule, we do not...We have party rule, and that allows these not so formidable fossils to rule us into extinction...Mr. Obama is simply a younger version; more adept, and more agile, and yet of the same mold...Being party creatures, they govern for the benefit of their party...Between them they have divided the people, and feel no need to serve all the people, and quite the opposite... They will not love their enemy, and avoid helping their friends if it might serve their enemies...They support their party, their class, and to an extent, their age group...And it is for this reason that the young are so careless, and hopeless...I realize that they put Mr. Obama over the top...It was not out of kindness that they did so, but desparation...What could they do??? This society has been draining the vitality out of youth for many generations and denying to them the most basic rights and opportunity... Why should they become slaves for an education that will only prepare them for a life of drudgery???Why educate themselves at all, when to judge by educated parents it gives no respect,, no love, no hope, and no promise???This society runs the young and willing into an early grave with too much work and too little meaning, but if work is impossible to find, then only a legion of beggers will be formed, -stay at home kids, street kids, and unemployed kids training for prison...A society that works for all would have all people working...If the government worked, it would not stand by while many are worked to death, and others never learn to work...We import labor to act as slaves, while huge groups are denied honorable labor... So who can argue that party rule of society works.. They may be natural, but so is poison ivy... We do not have to accept it and cultivate it only because to party is natural...Thanks...Sweeney

The pendulum has fallen off the clock. We've entered a new era, Mr. Buchanan, and when the clock gets repaired perhaps we can look to predictable rhythms. But your party is history unless it morphs into something very different than it is or has been. And you've got to find your spine and stand up to Jabba.
