by Steve Chapman

Last year, at a campaign event in South Carolina, John McCain called on a woman who had a question about the expected Democratic nominee. "How do we beat the bitch?" she asked. True enough, Governor Palin was initially for the Bridge to Nowhere. If Congress was going to give her money, she should have taken it. To do otherwise would be a failure to represent the best interests of her constituents. When Congress wasn't going to give her the full amount to cover the costs, she would have had to spend money from the state budget. At this point, she opposed it. It seems this is a good job of representing her constituents. In the end, she did oppose the bridge, so where is the lie? Regarding the education bill Obama favored. It included provisions to teach kids about sexual predators and, yes, it included provisions for sex education for grades K-12. So, the McCain ad mentioning this emphasizes a portion of the truth and is not a flat out lie. Recall that Obama promised us that it wouldn't be "politics as usual", so where is your criticism of his campaign. The most recent ad says McCain called Social Security a disgrace. He actually said the way it has been neglected is a disgrace, so the ad clearly a lie. And how about the recent ad that points out McCain doesn't use computers. Lets make fun of a guy whose computer use is limited by problems keyboarding due to war injuries. What next? Voting for bills to allow infants that survive late term abortions to die?
