There was some talk on the news tonight, that with liberal and conservative economists calling for money NOW to prime the economy; the republicans are still holding out for more tax breaks for the rich... We need some metaphore like a needle stuck in a groove... Some body help me out... It's like Deja vu all over again, and again, and again...It's like a promise from a drunk... It's like the same old nonsense that got the republicans out of power that they think will get them back in... Some one give those guys a breathalizer test, a VDRL, and an intelligence test if they pass the first two... Talk about playing with fire while Rome burns... This collumn would have more validity if it were not written by an avowed liberal tax and spender. Mr. Conason's impassioned attack on the minority republicans for their failure to curb spending in the past is patently ridiculous in the face of what the democratic party has done to the economy with its "tax the pennies on a dead man's eyes" theory of government. Shedding crocodile tears for the failing economy might make sense if it were not for the follies and greed of democrats like Christopher Dodd and Barney Frank. And now we need a "stimulus" to get the economy going again. Right! What we need is a tax rate cut, a spending cut, and term limits to make the two work. Where is Mr. Tax cutter conason on this?
