Thoughtful Warriors

by Mona Charen

Unlike some who shall, in the interests of comity, remain nameless — conservatives do not cry foul when they lose elections. They do not whine that the election was stolen, or secured through dirty campaign tricks, or otherwise illegitimately won. Instead, they ask themselves where they went wrong.

The National Review Institute, a think tank founded by the late William F. Buckley and now headed by the dynamic and perspicacious Kate O'Beirne, hosted a daylong conference in Washing ...

Ma'am; Come on.... That call in Florida that elected Mr. Bush which could have been handled any number of better ways showed for all the world what a partisan institution the Supreme Court is... They had plenty of time to regret their call, and they will regret it for a long tome to come...The whole thing, the whole electoral process needs fixing... Look at how many districts are fixed to produce a party winner no matter what the advantage or ability of the opponant...Do I think the situation will improve with the democrats in charge???I have no hope... But, as far as your major point; it is nonsense...The republican were crying about a stolen election before the election even happened, talking voter fraud when it is clearly a miniscule problem that does not rate a tiny part of the attention of law enforcement... It is a straw dog that your guys kick the stuffing out of all the time... So blow it out your ear, lady... If the only way you guys will accept defeat is if the result is beyond question, then start accepting, because the result was overwhelming... The majority has spoken, and I will admit it is a lousy way to run a country, but accept it... You can usually sway the fickle middle with your nonsense, and run rough over the left... Count your blessings... Count on failure... Depend upon obstruction, and tell your troops to drag their feet... Failure of democratic government might mean re-election, and it might mean revolution, so what you push might be a win for you or for me... Thanks...Sweeney

Instead, they ask themselves where they went wrong. < Beg to differ, but when Republican Washington State gubernatorial candidate Dino Rossi lost to Christina Gregoire in 2004, conservatives cried foul, whining that the election was stolen, secured through dirty tricks, or otherwise illegitamately won. And, far from asking themselves where they went wrong, they ran the same candidate in 2008, only to lose by a larger margin.

Again- You are an idiot. Republicans do not cry foul or claim that the election was stolen? Maybe you need to reread the coverage and watch a few more clips. Claims of a biased media have PREVADED the campaign. While your head is burried under the sand- it is also obvious that you may have quit breathing! Another thing. Some Republicans have started calling the current financial mess "the Obama recession" . This is an amazing feat since he has not yet taken office. Please. There is no doubt the the republican party needs to rebuild within, rebrand, and find itself. It has been decimated by the fundemental christians and catering to big companies. However, trying to act holier than now does not work either.
