Sir; ...If you are saying the democrats can be racist; well then, I agree... But if you are suggesting racism in the case of Senator Reid; I think you are out of your mind... If anyone were to be appointed by Mr. Blagojevich of Illinois, the Democrats wanted some one who can hold the seat... Now; If the candidate is old, and the electorate is young, it will count against him... If he is black, and a sizable portion of the population is white; being black will count against him... The Democrats and Republicans have found that women candidates are electable; that women can more often be counted on to help a sister than the blacks can be counted on to help a brother... I think it is purely a question of numbers, and I think the whole issue, while it tends to make the governor look humane, and the democrats to look puny; that in fact, it is a hit to the head and a kick to the testi cleeze of the democratic party... There is a good chance Roland Burris will not be re-elected; and if he is, then how long is he good for???To me this is a win for the black people, justly deserved; but it is an injury to the democrats who want to hold power long enough to do some good in their estimation...Thanks...Sweeney
