The Year of Campaign Chaos

Politics ordinarily has a certain predictability. Yet presidential politics this year has often seemed to resemble what science writer James Gleick described in his book "Chaos."

"Chaos," he quotes one physicist as saying, "eliminates the Laplacian fantasy of deterministic predictability." Time and again this year, unpredicted and seemingly unpredictable developments have reshaped the presidential race. And they don't appear to stop coming.

What would you think of a new war in Georgia, or Persia? Maybe WWIII.... Foreign affairs is certainly a republican strength as long as they have democratic bodies and money to throw away. Too bad we are finally cathcing up with the future. Not that we have...Until bankers start making a bloody mess on the side walks there is no crisis, and also no need for celebration until they all hit bottom. This is their mess.
