I absolutely agree with your commentary; disgusting stuff, probably originating from a deep seated need to "shock" mommy and daddy or get them to wake up and pay attention. Now the whole country is paying attention. Should have treated them all at the local mental health facility, Oprah and the press included. If my comments offend anyone, good. How lucky for me, I knew nothing of this story till reading your article. Horrific, but isn't self-mutilation considered a sign of serious mental disorder? Why do surgeons agree to do the surgery? I guess it's ok, plastic surgeons perform surgery on people with "normal" features routinely. I guess if you've got the money...they've got the time.
