Mr. Elder, I have always seen you as a conservative mouthpiece with the correspondent lack of journalistic ethics and low opinion of the United States Constitution, Civil Rights and Empathetic Action.
But you have hit a new low with this piece of garbage.
I am a Vietnam Era Veteran--no, I never served in combat-but I helped transport those who did and I lost many friends in that era of Johnson & MacNamars' lies to meet a stupid political agenda.
For you to say that 3 satirists using their craft to reflect the truth about this criminal and lying administration is somehow unethical or immoral is just plain Anti-American.
Most Americans now understand that this President lied and lied and lied again to justify his narrow, neo-con fed view of the Iraq issue.
Clear to most of us as well, is the fact that Dick Cheney was and is the major mover behind many of this Administrations' criminal efforts--including disclosing the identity of an active CIA operative, Promoting the adoption of a terror for terror torture policy for the first time in American history and many other actions that mark the low standards of decency and conduct for this administration and it's Republican Congressional enablers.
Similarly, most Americans find it a bit too convenient that during the 8 years of this administration by an oilman and defense contractor team, those 2 industries have had record profits at the expense of the American Taxpayers and Military. Exxon Mobile just Happened to make close to a Trillion dollars in profit the last 4 years--it had nothing to do with their massive electoral donations to this team? Come On.
Halliburton just happened to be one of 3 firms given massive no-bid contracts by the DOD over the last 5 years? Just a coincidence...you betcha.
Finally, as a veteran I would ask-- When and Where did you Serve Mr. Elder? What Branch of the Military were you in? I venture to guess none---Or you'd be much more involved in defending our countries best by advocating only sending them into harm's way when it is Necessary--not to pursue some Neo-con nightmarish and foolish foreign policy adventure.
Save your crocodile tears for the veterans ---if you really had any concern for them or their welfare you wouldn't be knocking Satirists--you'd be protesting this unneccesary and failed war in Iraq--and agitating for an end to it sooner rather than later---and, yes, taking shots at the 2 MORONS who chose to undertake this stupidity and LIED to justify their decision--, in short sir, you'd behave and believe more like the 81% of Americans who now see the truth and advocate for an end to this war and administration everyday.

Mr. Stone: Actually, it is Mr. Elder who has it straight, and you who's got the warped viewpoint. <> President Bush and Vice President Cheney have done none of the things that the likes of Ferrell, Kennedy, and Jackson have accused them of. Pres. Bush is, first of all, a man of integrity and high character. One can fault his judgement. One can fault his decisions. But when one faults his character, it is the first indication that the critic is ignorant, or lying, or both. Senator Kennedy, and the "Reverend" Jesse Jackson, are documented habitual liars, with decades of behavior that belies their lack of integrity and character. When it was they who led the charge, accusing President Bush of lying, it should have given us all pause...WHO is accusing Bush of lying? Those two? Who are they to pass judgement? <> In assessing President Bush, one would do well to consider that in waging the War on Terror, he has brought a bounty onto his own head, that will not go away once he leaves office: it's there for life. A corrupt man may send other's sons to die to enrich himself and his friends, but even a corrupt man will not offer up his own life, or the lives of his family for the same purpose. <> Try digging in more spots for your information. <> Peace.

Re: davd w pennington
Mr. Pennington--
With all due respect--your definition of "good character" is obviously flawed if it includes the DOCUMENTED acts of Bush, Cheney, et al.
In fact, Mssrs. Bush and Cheney have systimatically engaged in acts that any American of Good Character should repudiate and for which they should be facing criminal indictments.
I noted your attempts to draw in all the normal "liberal lightening rod personalities" to your argument rather than dealing with the facts--but let's not waste our time there. It should be clear to you, if you have followed the events of the last several years, that my thesis is grounded in facts--not claims from Jesse or Sen. Kennedy.
Those facts include--
---No WMD found anywhere in Iraq--also no legitimate documented links to Al-Quida or any other terrorist group involved in attacks on American interests abroud or at home---yet 2 YEARS after those facts were clearly established both Cheney and Rumsfeld were still making claims that we pre-empted an imminent danger in Iraq by dismantling Saddams' links to Al-Quida and foreclosing a WMD attack on America.---Those are FACTS SIR--NOT POLITICAL STATEMENTS
----Both Bush and Cheney have made repeated statements that "America doesn't engage in torture" and "American's don't torture"--yet they encouraged and endorsed a Justice Dept advisory that permitted Water Boarding and other "high stress techniques" as long as they fell short of ACTUALLY endangering the life of the suspect--Yet the standard in the Geneva Convention, The UCMJ and the former DOJ guidance to the CIA made a much lower standard--one of any act where the suspect being questioned could PERCEIVE it as endangering his life or safety.. John Aschcroft actively disagreed with the Bush Admin interpretation--as has the Supreme Court and as did the US Nuremburg prosecutor in 1946/47 when he prosecuted 14 Japanese army officers and 3 German SS Commandos for participating in "simulated drowning" or waterboarding. What changed between 1946/47 and 2002 in American views? John Yoo at the Direction of Mssrs Bush and Cheney and Rumsfeld would be the correct answer. AGAIN, THOSE ARE FACTS SIR--NOT POLITICAL STATEMENTS
As a Veteran and an American Liberal Patriot I find your sly attempt at rhetorical re-direction appalling--but typical of the last 20 years of Republican trash talk rather than dealing with factual data.
You partie's time is up and the world is changing around you- Predatory Capitalism is dying, The Bush Neo Con Militarist approach is completely (and appropriately) discredited, Imperialist and Oppressive attacks on smaller nations by Bully Boy Republican presidents to line the pockets of their wealthy contributors are in disrepute-- and I predict that after November there will be indictments flying--and all your NeoCon buddies are gonna be getting some sleepless nights because they, like you, have spent 25 years avoiding the facts of the matters they dealt with by using spin and rhetorical redirection--but those "skills" don't play well in front of prosecutors and grand juries...and there are many many of those in the Republican Futures.

Mr. Stone: Your arguments dissolve when objectively examined. For example, resorting to the use of more sources of information reveals that Saddam's WMD were removed to Syria prior to the 2003 invasion...except for the 550 tons of yellow cake that were recently transferred to Canada. The information that challenges your assertions is readily available. <> You were a patriot combatant, I was a patriot dissident during the Viet Nam War. But, I humbly thank you for your service to our country. Now, we are patriots who find ourselves on opposite sides of an important set of issues, once again. We owe it to our nation's future to inform ourselves, and question our sources, the best we can. <> All the best.

Elder's point seems to be that it is just too horrible to tell a soldier that he is suffering because of Bush/Cheney's lying. It is horrible. It also happens to be true. Nows I'm not about to "inform" Staff Sgt. Wilkerson of this. He's an adult and can draw his own conclusions. But the fact is that not one, NOT EVEN ONE, of the reasons we were fed for the Iraq war, has proven to be true. What's more, there is growing evidence that the "intelligence" was cooked. This isn't a policy diagreement. It isn't even a matter of incompetence. If it were mere incompetence, then the Bush/Cheney team would not have made repeated attempts to connect Iraq with 9/11, though denying the connection if asked point-blank. This is reprehensible behavior. You're right. It's not a pleasant thought that our president lied his way into a needless war. But just because it's unpleasant doesn't make it false. Bush Lied.

i am perplexed. If Bush/Cheney and their ilk misled the American people, have diverted billions of funds to Hallibuton(which I believe Mr. Cheney still owns a lot of stock in) directed Americans to TORTURE fellow human beings which is a violation of the Geneva Convention and in an environmental aside have done more to destoy us than any other two individuals in history(Denial of US complicity in global warming, mountain top mining ,doing their utmost to gut the Endangered Species Act as they are gutting our Constitution etc..etc...etc...)if this was a Democrat you would be screaming for impeachment but since its a Republican you wont;which just goes to show the real values of you and your ilk

Using this injured soldier as a diversion of pity to excuse the acts of the Bush administration, who's lies drew this country into war in the first place, is positively contemptuous. Larry Elder is a rediculous excuse for a journalist.
