I agree there is always fear mongering. O'Quinn, now deceased was charged with skimming funds from the women who were sick from implants.
The Dow settlement has never been finalized and most women to this day more than 15 years after the fact do not have rightful compensation.
The findings of the Mayo and Harvard/Brigham studies were expunged when the authors of the study admitted under the threat of perjury that they were on the payroll of the manufacturers and that no women were ever physically examined for the study. The questions on the questionnaire for the study were designed by the manufacturer to give pre approved answers and did not look for atypical conditions as are present with silicone poisoning.
Silicone is only one component in implants and is not the main culprit for the poisoning. The chemical additives and the platinum which is added to maintain the honey like condition of the implants are the main problem.
The current PIP implants are exactly the same as what Dow used.
Change the Name on the Barrel-
When the Medical Products Division was established at Dow Corning in the early 1960s, documents note : “Dow Corning 200 fluid – polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) silicone was used for industrial applications; when the market changed to ‘medical use,' the barrels were re-designated as Dow Corning 360 (silicone) Medical Fluid. The label on the new product also carried the inscription ‘formerly Dow Corning 200 Fluid.” (Undated- 1960s. DCC 267371450 Pendleton D. #15).
