I grew up with the evil eye lurking. In my mother's experience, doom was at the end of every rainbow. And the worst thing you could do was call attention to your blessings, a surefire way to attract the evil eye. Although confirmed conservative Republicans, we so enjoy reading your column and seeing you on FOX. In this world of ever increasing mean spiritedness, you are a kind and decent soul. Only good people can laugh and smile while arguing, not letting the political get personal. By the way, what was wrong with Irving?
