Mr. Roberts:
The veterans who suffered through war, believing that they were helping to preserve the American ideals, must be sick and disgusted at what the see happening to this country.
It may be merciful that many of them will not survive to suffer through the finale.

Future historians who study our demise will look back at these years in absolute bewilderment. They will see a nation totally engrossed in the "war on terror" against a band of fanatics who, though capable of killing individuals, were no real threat to our existence or way of life.
Meanwhile, the only country in the world that could possibly be viewed as such a threat, both militarily and economically, Communist China, grows ever stronger due to it's own efforts and the active complicity of our financial, corporate and political leadership, all of whom view the future in monthly, or at most, quarterly time spans.
Our leaders have an almost mystical, childlike belief in the benign nature of this totalitarian country; no action of their's seems to raise any suspicion about their future motives and designs as we blithely go on sending more of our manufacturing base over there searching for ever larger profits and simultaneously relying on them to finance our debt, both public and private, all the while convinced they would never do anything to either attack the dollar or play economic/political hardball at the appropriate time.
I am in no way China bashing; they have every right to follow their own interests and I have no doubtr they will. This is instead a call for America to wake up and remember the fate of American Indians who sold Manhattan for $24 worth of trinkets; a TV or toy is today's equivalent.
