People naturally try to improve things whether it be for the production of goods or the methods for accomplishing goals.
Historically speaking, it hasn't been that long ago that Adolf Hitler resorted to any means necessary to get the job done. The elimination of his competition and the threat of such elimination gained him the results he wanted.
No survey is needed to verify that such ways of getting things done is inherently wrong. Today we are witnessing a refinement of techniques, which are also inherently wrong, in order to achieve the goals of a few in power. No longer relyng on murder, our legislative leaders have updated the way in which demigoguery is being forced upon our population.
Hopefully, the alarm sounded by people like Mr. Sowell will be enough to counter those who are trying to get what they want by rushing a new govenment legislation of medical care through Congress before Congress has a chance to read it. The means unjustify the end when input is limited to a scant few who think they know what is best for everyone else. Their means have more to do with the goal of what is best for them alone.
