An important look at the reality of police shootings. As a 28 year veteran officer and detective, I have never read a more reasoned perspective from a journalist. No, this does not speak of the sensationalized or bad shootings that have occurred, just the other 99.9%.
No one, and I mean no one, ever comes to work hoping to shoot and kill someone.

While I've always been amazed at the liberal concern over cops shooting people who are unarmed if you don't count the car they're trying to hit the cop with, it does follow form.
I remember how outraged they were when the Israeli's would shoot rock throwers. They didn't seem to realize that the rocks were brick halves capable of blinding or killing if the throw was good.
I'd have no moral qualm using a firearm on someone who stated he was only trying blind me with a brick. Someone trying to hit me with a car would probably catch the entire cylinder or magazine.
I think the "bullet counting" is probably based on the truism that if you fire once {or twice at the most) you're not necessarily trying to kill your target. Ten or more rounds you probably are.
