Sir;...If you are trying to show that American dollars abroad to buy our good does not buy their corruption; then you have failed...Do you think money does not buy our corruption as well??? Do you think people will not return from there addicted to power, or death, or drugs??? Do you think some of our own will not return from there rich beyond all reason??? We have to look at what our money is buying... We may have bought only time... How long might we have been gone from the place if we had not bought the neutrality of so many with green backs... It happened in Vietnam... A friend once told me of living in a New York highrise bought for cash by former Vietanamese... Our kids were dying, but they were socking away cash...When a country spends more than it has, and we have plenty and have spent much, then sooner or later, its cash becomes crumbs...Our money is full of air... Think of all the millions that were paid to Chinese generals who let their men starve by the millions, or who watched the population starve while they watched supplies rot...Nothing fails like failure, and no failure is more obvious than monitary failure...If we no longer have a good idea that we can inspire others to fight for, and are left buying their affection for ideas no one should fight for, then the battle is done, and the dead alone can say who won... Think, before you go to war of what we have to gain and what may be our loss... No one goes so far to kill without a view to gain... Wars should be fought for democracy, to save it, in defense of it, to avoid the loss of it if it is not already too late, and this will never be a distant war or war for gain... Thieves think in terms of gain over the lives of others... These are our enemies... Can anyone see the reason for our being in China or Vietnam, or Korea, or Cuba after they have asked us nice to leave??? We go there for what is theirs... We bargain a few of our lives, and many of theirs, and a crapload of public dollars for a few years of private gain -and life long enmity from them...Those people who stand up to us are moral, and for that reason they succeed...We were more moral than the British, and the communists were more moral than the nationalists...They could not have succeeded if corroded in their souls by money, and neither shall we... It is brave and honorable people who win wars and conflicts... Where money is dear, honor is cheap... Honor and money are forms of economy, and the honor economy is moral...Our corrupt dogs run home with us with their tails between their legs, and we leave our weaker friends to the wolves who howl their contempt after us...We have given those people the war when we have given them the battle field... They have the interior lines... They hold the fortresses... It is their lz... We need a better fight, and a better excuse to fight... God save us from all the fools who want to ruin our armies, and trash our economy to line their own pockets, and that includes the government... Some wars should not be thought or ever fought...
