We must be active reminders to the public in opposition to those who seem to have forgotten the past. And let the tea parties continue to challenge those politicians referred to by former presidential candidate and senator Eugene McCarthy when he asserted, "It's dangerous for a national candidate to say things that people might remember."

This comment is not about this article but to Mr. Sowell directly. Thank you for your consistently well reasoned and well written articles. I don't know how often your are praised but know that it is not enough. Thanks.

With minds/ people like Mr Sowell, how in God's name do we wind up with presidents like GW Bush and Obama? Thomas Sowell should be on a major news program so he can get his words to the public. There is no reason a great mind like his should be kept in the closet.

I also want to thank and praise Mr. Sowell. I have read many of his articles over the years. He is brilliant in his analysis and presentation of issues about so many subjects. His ability to simplify complex matters into such comprehensible writings is amazing! I too wish he had much more exposure to the American citizens.
