Sir;...If brave were scared I would have to agree with you.... The fact is that the parties are getting pushed to the extreme by their cores, and it is only just that the parties which divide this country should be divided in turn by the extremes they have fed and bred and led... Specter was smart, but not brave... If the general election is no problem, then hand the extremists their pyrrhic victory and change partners....Right now, the republicans find it easier to defeat their true friends than their true enemies, and in that fashion they are marginalizing themselves... They are becoming the party of seccession, as they were before the civil War, when victory against the democrats did not seem possible...I suppose that is what I would do...If my freinds were trying to push me so far to the extreme that my defeat was assured, I would step to the center even if that meant a change of parties... I don't like the parties...They are not good for America.... But every politicians should know that he works for his whole district even if only half elect him, and he should govern to their best interest no matter what the extremes of his party demand... Governance is a practical matter... Those who want to make it always about ideology are the enemies of reason and progress...They serve themselves better than the people...Thanks...Sweeney
