Outside of politics, sports, and popular entertainment, how many living Germans, or French, or Austrians, or even Brits can you name?

Even well-informed people who love art and literature and who follow developments in science and medicine would be hard pressed to come up with many, more often any, names. In terms of greatness in literature, art, music, the sciences, philosophy, and medical breakthroughs, Europe has virtually fallen off the radar screen.

Right-wingers these days are reluctant, or perhaps too ignorant, to aknowledge the basis for our Constitution. Our Constitution is based on secularism and the preamble (along with the rest of the document) makes this quite clear. I, like our founders, believe in secularist government as the best form of government. When government gets in the religion business it's bad for governmnet and bad for religion. I don't recomend secularism as one's complete worldview. When I'm out in my kayak at sunrise I'm not thinking about secularist philosophy.....I'm experiencing the devine....or at least evidence of it. Why can't right-wingers aknowledge the obvious?.....Religion and government our a bad mix and our Consitution was based on secularist philosophy for that reason.
