Smear Campaign

by Oliver North

WAUKESHA, Wis. — Here in "Cheesehead" country, where Green Bay Packers fans go to Lambeau Field with snow shovels, military recruiting never has been much of a problem — until now.

"These are outdoors, patriotic people," a military recruiter told me as I prepared to speak at a Boy Scouts function here. "Young people up here are tough. They hunt, they ice fish, they go to football games in an open stadium in the middle of a blizzard. This used to be ...

Dear Lt Col North. I love watching "war stories" - I'm not up that late at night (3am here in Rochester), so I record your programs. Thanks for being an advocate for our military. I am one of the fortunate guys in the USA who was actually "drafted" into the US Army when I was 19 years old in Dec, 1965. "Greetings, you are hereby ordered to report to Church Street in Rochester NY for induction into the armed forces of the United States"......I'll never forget it. I don't think I would have experienced the military if I had not been drafted, but I thank God I did. It changed my life for the better, forever. Today, like you I am an advocate for our military. I am so proud of each soldier! And I love my Red White and Blue! I also thank God for men like you. I get Soldier of Fortune magazine partly to read your articles. You are one of the voices in the USA media that one has to seek to find. I'm glad I found your articles, and now I'll get to read more. For instance I am not surprised what you uncovered in the illustrious NY Times. I don't read it, but maybe I should just to see how distorted truth can be put in print. I think the NY Times and "Moveon.org" owe General Petraeus a profound apology. As public as they announced their filthy insults. And oh yea, how bout the US Congress? They do too. It's too bad there is no accountability for public displays of smearing. I think people should be held to what they write......but who am I? thanks for your tenacity regarding true American's integrity. I'll keep you in my prayers! And oh yea, I agree with Dean - you should run for president. We need a good leader.
