Sir;... God Bless You; ...but helping a man into the Senate is not like helping real people with real problems... I have a person I know, my second Cousin's wife, born in 1936, in Georgia , still working, and not drawing Social Security because the doctor who delivered her had the misfortune of having his office burn down without her birth certificate being regestered with the State of Georgia... I don't have all the facts, but I have e-mailed Mrs. Stabinow, and Mr. Chamblis of Georgia, and neither of them seems to be falling all over themselves trying to get back to me on this... This women still has brothers and sisters alive... She had a note from her mother giving the facts... You would think that after two marriages, and working from an early age that some one would figure out that she belongs here... It's like the people in Atlanta can't move it unless some one makes them move on it because that is how bureaucracies go, where they are pushed, and no further... I think the government was better in this country when there were still political spoils...Lincoln came out of the spoils system, and he lived with it... The thing is, if the bureacracy did not work, everyone knew the key was to change the faces at the top... Now, if it does not work, -join the growing line of people trying to escape their frustration... People ought to be able, qualified for their jobs; but they ought to know that if they do not serve the needs of the people that they, and their boss, and everyone in between are going to lose come next election... .. .. .. And; If I may comment on your News Hour appearance last evening: Why is it; that we allow so many politicians, the latest of which is Mr. Bagman from Illinois; to hide behind our rights??? We give them power... Now, rights may well be considered as powers, reserved by the citizen for protection from the government... Why do we so often see that government is slow to recognize our rights, denys our rights, or infringes upon our rights, and yet at the first threat, scurries to hide behind our rights??? If they want rights then they should remain citizens and demand rights from that lowest of all pedestals... If they want power they should live as Caesar's wife, pure, above reproach, and beyond doubt... Do they need privacy more than we need transparency???Let them all risk recall... Give them freedom enough to do what they see as right... Let them keep open books on their contacts, and on their decisions.... And when their term is all over let them be tried... You would find soon enough that in every instance our leaders would submit the choice to the people, to hear their will, to give them council, instead of what we have today, of leaders doing as they please, and not even troubling to seek the council of the people...We do not have to ask why we do not have good government when we do not have really have government, but are ruled by money through representatives of our choice...We only get to choose who will be corrupted next... From an objective point of view, robbing a bank is a difficult and dangerous method of taking money when politics offers greater rewards and a fraction of the risks.... Thanks...Sweeney
