Sir;... I hate to be the bearer and all that; but as Mark Shields pointed out, the Civil War is still on in Dixie. White males in the South voted overwhlemingly for Mr. Mccain... You know, it could be that Mrs. Palin over played the attack dog thing... There are republican intellectuals who realize that they are not serve by divisivness any better than democrats... She brought out the base, and sent the republican advocates for working government home to sit it out on election day... Now, she may have saved some seats in some districts... She will always be a lighning rod, and no one in their right mind will want to dance with her in a storm... And she proved she was uneducated, and a lttle shallow, and people; republican and democrats alike, if they know which way is up, and are not voting on reflex, then they know we cannot bear anymore stupid presidents... Mr. Bush has all but cured us of that desire.... Thanks..Sweeney

Dear David,
A (friend?) gave me a copy of Thomas Sowell's latest, "Black Rednecks and White Liberals". I only managed the first chapter or so before I got angry. Mr. Sowell may be right about his denigration of Southern blood as quick to take offense. It sure didn't take long for his words to get my Southern Irish way up! In a few pages, he managed to continue the hurtful stereotypes that have followed Southerners and Irish Americans for so long. What a novel way to blame the actions of his race on whites! I must say it's creative! I hadn't heard that particular hypothesis before. Please sir, if you get a chance to read the book, please e-mail me your opinion. I don't know where you are from, but please consider how you would feel if you were a Southerner and proud of your heritage. I would really like to hear your opinion.
