Ma'am...Your concern for student welfare is wonderful...That must mean you are in the front of the line everyday visiting the maimed, the dying, the brain damaged, and the tramatized of our eternal war.... As the great Eastwood must have said: dying isn't much of a living...But there will always be a few boys with too much gonad and not enough brains who will get on the bus to fight for a country that will not fight for them, will not work for them, will not give them opportunity or justice... The poor die to defend the rights of the rich when the rich will not even pay for the pleasure... Fortunately, you are there helping those kids to play soldier.. And the reason is simple...Naturally, you are right wing ding dong; but they are kids, and if they knew what they were risking for nothing they would not do it...That is why children go to war, and old men send them...If you do not have the power to demand death, and sacrifice with a word you really have no power... One of Caesar's men devoted himself at a triumph for him... That was devotion, true devotion, in the original sense of the word, of offering your self as a sacrifice for another...We wave the flag, and take the oath, and sing the Star Spangled Banner.... God forbid that those children should ever get the world they are pledged to, with liberty and justice for all... Things might have to change...The dead might not all have died in vain if we have liberty and justice...But if those children could live for a hundred years, they would find that all their dangers were for nothing, that a few enjoy what everyone else works and fights for...So pray that they never get what so many die for, and what most die for the want of...Pray, if you have any good sense; that the toy soldiers you so admire die in vain, and for nothing...It is the only way you, and your rich friends will be able to hold on to this country...Thanks...Sweeney
