Mr.Scheer....I think you are extremely short-sighted in your appraisal of Teddy Kennedy.
Name one piece of Kennedy legislation that was effective in anything besides getting Teddy Kennedy re-elected.
Sure the old guy was great at appearing to defend worthy causes.
But was he effective? NO, he was not.
Teddy Kennedy merely rode the wave of the New Deal Era, always at the top. And why expect him to be anywhere else but the top? He was born rich.
So which piece of Kennedy legislation was truly effective at helping the downtrodden? the poor? the un-insured?
Basicly Teddy Kennedy sold you a bunch of good old fashioned irish malarky.
1. The No Child Left Behind Act?
2. The Immigrant Amnesty Act?
3. The Medicare Prescription Act?
I think its pretty safe to argue that the USA is in such dire straits today precisely because Teddy Kennedy pushed through a lot of hack-kneed legislation that was ineffective at solving the problem it saught to address.
