Rebel Yell: Taxpayers Revolt Against Gimme-Mania

by Michelle Malkin

There's something in the air. It's the smell of roasted pork. President Obama heralded the signing of the trillion-dollar "stimulus" bill in Denver and promoted his massive mortgage entitlement expansion in Mesa, Ariz., at tightly controlled campaign events. But outside the Secret Service perimeters, a raucous grassroots rebellion against Beltway spending binges has caught fire. The new Boston Tea Party is here, baby, and it's doused in barbecue sauce.

Good job of reporting Michelle! Thank you a thousand times over. Too bad not one of these protests were aired on the "main-stream" media. Interesting (but expected) to say the least. Facts, no matter how they're spun or even if totally ignored, does not change them! I write my Congresmen and local legislators about my feelings, I know I'm not alone and I hope they listen! While I'm not especially fond of tea anyway, I do like the smell of barbecue sauce, unfortunately this time it's purely political!

My wife and I attended the Dump Dennis Moore/No More Porkulus rally in Overland Park, KS this morning. There were around 350 to 400 people there. Only one local TV station was there KSHB. They got there late and when the story was posted on their website, they only credited 100 people as being there. When I called the station and spoke with the weekend news director, I was advised that this is all that the videographer counted. They not only are drinking the Obama/Dennis Moore/Liberal kool-aid, they can't even count! Keep up the great work Michelle. Let's dump these chumps! Don Brown Lenexa, KS

Unfortunate that all the protesting didn't succeed in stopping the stimulus bill from sailing through the US Senate (thanks to Republican-In-Name-Only Senators Collins, Snow, and Specter) and landing on Obama's desk to be signed. This is the sort of recklessness that we get when the GOP is marginalized to the point that it cannot even halt something from getting through both houses of Congress, when that something is voted along party lines. It's all the more reason that the Republicans had better make some gains in '10, or this country is well and truly screwed.
