Race Cards and Speech Codes

by Pat Buchanan

"Give me a break. This whole thing is the biggest fairy tale I've ever seen."

So said Bill Clinton in New Hampshire of Obama's claim to have been a constant opponent of the war. Clinton cited Obama's voting record, which was the same as Hillary's in his early Senate years.

Yet, for this, the ex-president, designated by Toni Morrison as "our first black president," was charged with playing the race card.

Clinton spent days explaining the "fairy tal ...

Pat, I'm a left-leaning Independent. The most shocking arc of this election process was Obama's use of race to diminish Hillary Clinton. It's not that there weren't comments that raised questions but if Obama had been the unifier that he claimed to be, he and his campaign would've set the tone for a post-racial future in the country. Instead, they've managed to alienate life-long supporters of civil rights issues and created animosity in a party that had successfully formed black/white coalitions for years. Until recently, I would have bet my paycheck that my POV on Hillary Clinton was more in alignment with Eugene Robinson's than yours. Color me surprised.

Re: Marian, YOU WHITE FOLKS ARE SOMETHING ELSE. WE UNDERSTAND THE CODE. EVERYONE LISTENING CAN UNDERSTAND THAT HILLARY IS CALLING FOR ALL THE WHITES TO GET OUT AND VOTE. SHE KNOWS IT IS NOW OR NEVER. SHE KNOWS SHE HAS TO WIN A LANDSLIDE, AND SHE KNOWS HOW TO RALLY THE WHITES. MAKE SURE N O B L A C K M A N WILL EVER WIN THE PRESIDENCEY. ALSO TO MR. BUCHANAN, FOR YOUR INFORMATION I DON'T THINK MR.OBAMA COULD HAVE GOTTEN THIS FAR WITH AS MUCH MONEY AS HE HAS BY COBBLEING--PUTTING IT TOGETHER CLUMSILY. YOU ONLY WISH HE HAD DONE IT CLUMSILY.

Pat. my sentiments exactly. I'm soooo frustrated at the "news media"( if that's what they are) for being so biased. They all jumped on the Obama of 2 speeches bandwagon without knowing squat about him. I think a lot ov voters have buyers' remorse.(those who voted before all this crap came out about him and his wife). We in Mi & Fla will not forget what he and Howard Dean did with our states. I can tell you if Obama is the nominee(I'm not ready to turn this country over to college kids and AA voters just to make them feel good) will be voting for McCain. These will be the Reagan/Dems who are now the Hillary-supporters will not stay home ,because that would be a vote for Obama.

Pat ,Look who Hillary"s new best friend! I used to think that you were just a little crazy! Either you are just trying to put out alot of BS about a really Great man who happens to be Black<yes, deal with it>,or you are just plain stupid! I just happen to be a Yes"White Female Republican over the age of Sixty"who IS proudly supporting Senator Obama because I think he Is different from most any candidate we have ever had ! We have already had a steady diet of Trailer Park Trash! How proudly Hillary claims their votes! Yeah, uneducated white rednecks that think being racist and having no values are tradition! No wonder they feel so close to Bill "I never had sex with that woman" Clinton. The Jewish Vote understandably has to go to her because they probably aren't sure if Barack Obama would make Peace in the middle east and the current circumstances could change! Everybody wants advantage, but You Pat Buchannon, of all people should be ashamed of yourself and the amount of joy you get from bringing your own personal BS to what you write and babble on about! No,I did not vote for you! Why don't you and Hillary go run together anywhere but the USA!

Sir; I think you are beginning to see why so many republicans are willing to vote for Mrs. Clinton in the primary. They want to pick their opponant to one they know they can beat easier and more often than Mr. Obama. You can only kick people in the teeth so often before they begin to resent it, and we prime those black Americans for a kick everytime we make some rediculous statement, like pulling your self up by your boot straps. The great great grandchildren of slaves never forget the smell of slavery, and most of them cannot get the stink out of their noses. Women, on the other hand, have been treated as second class citizens for so long they just blow off any ignorant insinuations as the art of idiots. They know better, that they are better, equal at least, and undeniably different. The human race would be done, finished, and moved out of if women had the same raw nerve over the non sense men spew that black people have jangled by whites on a regular basis. Naturally, republicans want Hillary to run so they do not have to reveal their race hatred on a grand scale before the entire world. As a very liberal conservative, I think I would like to have Mr. Obama run the country. First, it would tend to demonstrate to all what black people could be if given a white environment, and second, it would have a whole lot of founding fathers spinning like axle shafts in the ground beneith our feet. I don't feel I owe black people or women anything but my respect as fellow citizens. I do think it does no harm to recognize with a vote that Mr. Obama, if he were white, would be fully qualified for the office -as intelligent and educated, and; since the possibility of actually knowing who we vote for is remote to say the least, that his lack of experience and corrosion appear from the distance as assets.

It is amazing that we could choose to move our thinking to the twenty-first century and see that being Racist is about the most Unintelligent exhibition as one can choose! YOU had Nothing to do with the color you were born, but you do have control of how you choose to be!! For one that claim to be a Christian, I think trying to trash an innocent man because of others people actions or race maybe is very dissappointing to God! Isn't it convenient to seperate Church and State unless you want to combine them to disassemble a valiant Campaign of a decent person? Go on Pat, look inside and see if there isn't a bigger and better person inside because the one you have been showing us is digusting and hateful ! Most of us have moved on,so what are you going to do when you realize that Hillary is falling on deaf ears! If she doesn't get the Presidency , I bet Bill even moves on!
