Mr. Perez. I am the person who wrote the "Only Miguel Perez would feel 'nostalgia'..." comment about your previous column. I am a little surprised that an anonymous comment on a local Abilene, Texas message-board would appear in your nationally-syndicated column. Perhaps I should begin by thanking you for making me famous! haha
I would like to inform you that your attempt at calling my stance "extremist" is very off-base. I am a huge independent scholar of World and U.S. History with emphasis on what has been omitted from our textbooks. I have no ill-will against the Europeans or Latin Americans when it comes to our world's history. Every nation and culture has their own dirty past and I am not a blind nationalist. I see many faults in what our "Forefathers" did when establishing our nation. I just found fault with your assertion that Pizarro "found" the Pacific Ocean and that de Leon should be given credit for "discovering the United States." A few hours with Charles Hapgood's book "Maps of the Ancient Sea Kings" or Barry Fell's "America: B.C." would prove both statements wrong. Perhaps my biggest gripe is our local paper's choice to have your column as one of our few "nationally syndicated" columns to be force-fed weekly. I admire your love of your two countries and your heritage, but sometimes it becomes a drinking game when reading your work----take a drink every time you see the word "Cuba." My apologies if my scathing review of your previous column offended you. But be warned that there are many like me who choose to research our nation's history in a manner that is completely different from what our public educators have carefully selected for us to learn.
