Ma'am;.... I don't know why the Gay and Les community can't get anything they want from government... If they are not paying to raise children they ought to have enough money to turn heads in government... I would offer that that is not really your problem.. The problems is, that without addressing the ideological problem which is not very susceptible to reason because it is out of the faith based community; what ever legal gains you make are open to reaction... You want the force of law behind your rights... Cool... But if that only makes the government seem a greater enemy of morality, there will be a reaction that might well end in revolution and violence...People make a big mistake counting on law when law is no better than public opinion... The rich count on the law... If the law leads to everyone being poor, sooner or later the public opinion necessary for its enforcement will fall away from it... Law is a form of relationship, like the economy, and like even money...We need a nation wide discussion of what a right is, because you will find the positive force of rights is nil under the best of circumstances... If you tell some one being gay gives you a positive right to a job they don't want to give you they will hate you... I think a right should protect you, so that no one can make you illegal, or put you in jail, or punish you for being you... It should protect the straight and the gay, and no one whose behavior is found generally offensive will ever have the job of his dreams no matter how much law piles on.... Now, I got to tell you, I think gays and lesbians are human beings... But they are no better than anyone else...I can remember one snowy night when I was beautiful and 19, and a gay guy picked me up hitchiking, and after I turned down his pass, he left me out in that cold night, miles from no where to find my own way... I would like to return the favor... Some times Gays need to know when to get out... Some times Christians need to learn when to get out... We should try to defend each other's rights with the understanding that law can do no more than public opinion allows... The two go together.... Thanks...Sweeney
