Any fool, other than those passing themselves off as American leaders, whether political or economic, could see the impending disaster headed our way. Quite simply, you do not become wealthy by going into debt to consume more and more, especially when the things you consume are made elsewhere. The one who sells the most toys wins, not the one who dies with the most. Before any pump priming by the government will be truly effective for the long term, we must force American corporations to bring their factories back here, regulate the hell out of Wall Street and it criminals, cut our military spending by 1/3 and stop finding needless wars to fight. As far as Israel and the Palestinians, peace could be had at any moment if the Israelis wanted it but they prefer to keep the settlements and subject another people to the degradations Jews have suffered through the ages; an occasional terrorist attack is a small price to pay for maintaining the present situation. Any time someone tries to put pressure on Israel, there will just be another series of articles or movies about the Holocaust and that will be that.

It just goes to show that no one can be made president without them accepting entirely the mindset of the rich and the powerful...The thing is, that while Mr. Obama is trained in a certain mindset, a certain form and paradigm called law; if he were really good, he could think outside of that box as well... It is a mistake to believe there will always be law, and always be capitalism... The fact is, that if those forms do not work for enough people, they will not survive all the people... We accept these forms because they work, while they work; and he can assemble all the priest and potentates of capital, and all the kings horses and men for that matter; and if the thing does not work, they cannot make it work...The republicans are betting on it not working, or are thinking it will take off on its own..That is crazy, but who said they were sane....I think it will not work, and will certainly not work on its own... If the government cannot tax the rich and find social equity, it is as done as the economy... We are not seeing the beginning of the end of capital...It has been killing us for a long time, and though we love the lies it tells us, we cannot get beyond the fact that for too long capital has been taking more than giving...It is time to kick the habit...Thanks...Sweeney
