Between 1932 and 1972, the U.S. Public Health Service (PHS) injected 399 black men with syphilis. This was known as the Tuskegee Experiment. By the end of the experiment 28 men died directly from syphilis, 100 died from related complications, 40 had passed it on to their wives, and 19 of their children were born with syphilis. A survey done in 1990 found that 10% of African Americans believed that the U.S government created aids to wipe out the black race. 20% believed it was possibly true. The statements made by Obama's FORMER pastor (at that time) was based on the many years of frustration of being in a country run by a government that has consistently ignore racial issues. A statement accusing the government of creating the aids virus sounds farfetched right. Well, in 1932 the thought of the Tuskegee Experiment seemed just as farfetched.
Our government has a long track record of lying to the people. 5 years ago, we went to war to bring down Osama bin Laden. To this date, he is still out there. The reason for our troops being in Iraq has gone from searching for WMD's, to getting Saddam Hussein, to operation liberate Iraq. This war started from a lie told to us by our president and as a result, over 3,000 troops have died. The pastor's statements were extreme but very valid. In addition, just ask the victims of hurricane Katrina (after the slow response from our government) how many of them said god damned America. But I know, for some one running for president, having an association with people that gives open and honest opinions is just not PC.
