Sir;... your checks and balances have already gone to hell.... The house was made powerless before the Senate... The house did the constitution one better, and made itself aloof from the people...What if the representatives represented only thirty thousand??? Do you think they could do as they pleased with so few bosses??? Do you think they could hide behind the division of their districts??? Would it be possible for them to have divided districts with so few electors??? We do not want our government to be powerless even if we want some checks on the power. We want government for our champion, and not for our town drunk.. What checks are there now??? Is it a check keeping government doing nothing for reaching no agreement, or for making no agreement that is worth anything, that won't be reneged on??? When the rich buy government they buy government that does not act in the best interest of the population, that very often goes year to year doing nothing for the people until the people howl, complain, cry, and blame each other, and still no thing of worth gets done... The government has goals... The government has clear, precise, well expressed goals, -objects upon which the constitution was made.... Where are they??? When are we going to get to liberty, justice, union, tranquility, and general welfare??? All the legitimate goals of government have been laid down for personal power, and wealth... The house of representatives could be our house of commons... If it chose to represent the population instead of dividing the population it could run the whole government... Forget the checks, and forget the balances... It could do the will of the people.... It could govern the country... It could govern the government... If inertia was the goal, and it is not the goal, and that is shown in the great power of the presidency which can move quickly even if outside the law; but if it were the goal, then there is plenty of inertia in government without parties... Now; to move government the people must first move the parties, and then the parties move government long after the force has become beyond unbearable for the people...You have your checks and balances in spades; more than is constitutional, and more than is sensible... What you call checks and balances is a government balanced on the edge of obsolescence trying to pass a rubber check... Trust me... The people have had enough. The people are checked..The people are ruined by bad government and no government. If Mr. Obama cannot make the thing work with a friendly congress it is too late to wait, and past time to reform the govenment... Do you want a piece of that candy???... Thanks...Sweeney
