Sir;... in a democracy, it is not anyone's job to run the country. We have had our runners, but they have mostly run this country into the ditch. It is a good leader who follows his people, lets them have their head, reminds them of their vision and their dreams, and helps to guide them safe to their destination. Not one person on the planet can be voted more brains than they are born with. No one can give to another the experiences that shape him. No person no matter how much they are fed intelligence, if they ate every brain in the tenth grade would not know enough, or know as much as life demands of us all to know. We give people authority, and they take power. It is not our fault, nor what any reasonable person desires. It is the way it is, but that does not make it right. What is right and what there can never be no better than, is each person governing themselves, submitting only to the guidence and authority of their neighbors. It is democracy we need, consent and control in all our own affairs. We need democracy because the people are smarter than any single man.... Thanks... Sweeney

Your wrote, "It turns out that John McCain doesn't use e-mail because his Vietnam War injuries prevent him from comfortably using a keyboard." Nice use of the campaign's sound bite, but please spare us the parroting. If Mr. McCain had any interest in using email, the net, etc., he could get perfectly servicable voice recognition software at a very reasonable price. This is a truly lame excuse. If a quadriplegic can use a computer so could John. To claim the war wound excuse is to double up on the "vote for me because I'm a war hero, and don't question anything I do because that makes you unpatriotic," line of thinking. There's plenty of legitimate reasons that could be articulated as to why McCain does not use email or computers - but not this one.
