Hey, Kwame, Take a Look at My Mailbag

Detroit Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick, fearing an upcoming indictment on charges of perjury and obstruction of justice, launched into a tirade during a speech about the state of the city.

Larry, You go through alot to say and do the right thing. Your efforts do not go to waste. I do appreciate each and every one of your articles. I hear black people say alot about this country is run by rich white people. Even if this is true, most white people, over 99.9%, don't run anything but their own lives. I am white and try to encourage black people to read and listen to people like you and Walter Williams and other like minded individuals that convey a real message of "hope." Keep up the good work. Another white man not running the country

On a positive note, they took the time to write; didn't buy a gun to shoot you or a rope to hang you! This racism thing is really messed up. Black people supporting a mayor they know is corrupt just because he's black and it's important "we" show solidarity. You know in their hearts they hate that he's corrupt. But they support him anyway because, "look at all the corrupt white officials". White people saying "another corrupt black official". After Coleman Young, they are probably giving up. Yep, black's are finally being elected into office and what do you know, they're just like white people in office...they're not all perfect. The Mayor, smart guy. He understands exactly how all this will go down. He's the kind of guy your bottom feeder hate-mail people admire and look up to. You know he doesn't kiss up to whitey. The fact he's broken the law, violated the trust of his office and his family, and all the people who placed their trust in him probably doesn't even register in their minds. Those that haven't experienced letting go of racism don't realize it starts just like it does within our own races. Treating other people the way you want to be treated. Trusting one person at a time. If that one fails you, then you trust another. You don't blame one or some persons failings on an entire race. I'm thinking your hate-mail fans would love to be where you are, doing what you're doing, loving life the way you do. They don't have the courage to step outside their small little words and worlds and accomplish worthy goals. They're too afraid to make friendships with people who will help them to reach those goals. No, best for them to stab each other in the back, as they are trying to do to you. They couldn't make it as you have because they don't trust and can't be trusted. They have no respect for themselves or other people so they never could make it to the top. For them, much easier to look at those on the path and those such as you, already there and throw stones at them and believe that you "sold out to whitey". Much harder to do the right thing. C'mon crying racism is the absolute lowest card you can play. IT MEANS YOU HAVEN'T GOT A HAND! They need to go sell that story in the 'hood, where there's not a distinction between dope and dopey. . Jungle tactics, try to pull you down because they are afraid to make the climb. They get you down and there'll be two losers at the bottom but even that won't make them happy. Bottom feeders! Good luck with the book. Who knew that title would create such controversy!

These letters would be hyterically funny if it were not so tragic that people believe this way. It might be fun to laugh at ignorant people but they have loud voices, and the liberals use them. Keep up the good work, Mr. Elder.
