Not all "Compelling Personal Stories" are Equal

Since when did securing a Supreme Court seat become a high hurdles contest? The White House and Democrats have turned Second Circuit Judge Sonia Sotomayor's nomination into a personal Olympic event. Pay no attention to her jurisprudence. She grew up in a Bronx public housing project. She was diagnosed with childhood diabetes at 8. Her father died a year later.

And, oh, by the way, did you hear that she was poor?

She is replacing a Lefty judge so the court isn't tilted yet. However, to say she will be amazing because of her past life would mean that a criminal that reforms goes to Law School and becomes better then becomes a judge would be the best for the position because not only have they risen from nothing but their life experience is more diverse then hers. Life experience should play a factor but I do not see how it is a qualification that trumps all others. Tell us more about her cases and rulings and less about her personal life.

I reserve my judgment about any actions (judgements) she may make in the future, however, I feel this appointment is just one more tilt (to the left!) to the already slippery slope the USA is on! Down hill, no breaks, in God you better not trust!
