Sir; Why don't you tell the people how the best of all economic systems imaginable needs life support from the government on a regular basis. Shouldn't the economy carry the government? Why must the government carrry the economy if it is sooo great? Perhaps it is only great for you and the legions like you who live off it without hitting a lick. Your job may be borring beyond belief, but it is not like working for a living where you stand on your feet, eat boss bs all day and actually produce something. What do you believe is the root of this evil? It can't be regulation because that was sorely lacking. It can't be profits because profits have been exhorbitant. Could it be that now that you have sold at inflated prices more than the market could bear, and then oversold not only house, but houses at loan shark rates, that you have sucked all the free cash and equity out of the market and tried to make it work while you sat idle? Do you think property is falling below its value now? I don't. If property were not a bank of wealth because it no longer supports the country with taxes, its value would be what the market could bear, and it would make money or go on the block. Making it cheap to own made it expensive to buy, while on the other hand, wages forced to produce profit and pay taxes impoverished the worker, made him work harder and longer and left him little to pay the mortgage. The rich have done this to themselves, and now great swathes of property will become public property depressing every market for years, waiting for bargains. Can the government afford to support so many empty houses? The government has made the problems of the private sector its own. They have decided that the economy and government will marry and die together in a suicide pact. This is the government that has robbed the future of America to make more millionaires, and more millionaires richer still. How long have you tapped the public treasury to give the rich free money for loans that drives labor like a buggy whip? Working people have carried this land while you folks have ridden it into the ditch. Now you want all the money... Our legs are getting too few and wobbly to support all the dead wood we carry. I think that if capital will not be governed, and the government will not govern capital, that they could easily be buried in the same grave.
