Marching Off Into Tyranny
by Paul Craig Roberts
In last weekend's edition of CounterPunch, Alexander Cockburn updates the ongoing persecution of Sami Al-Arian by federal prosecutors. Al-Arian was a Florida university professor of computer science who was ensnared by the Bush regime's need to produce "terrorists" in order to keep Americans fearful and, thereby, amenable to the Bush regime's assault on U.S. civil liberties.
The charges against Al-Arian were rejected by a jury, but the Bush regime could not accept the obvious ...

I honestly think you should be on the terrorist watch list. I am open to all points of view, be they conservative or liberal, but your rantings are barely short of treason. In my opinion, you should feel lucky to live in a country where your rights, especially your right to free speech allows you to spout off your "conspiracy" laden ravings. You say China's only crime is enabling the Bush "regime" by financing the so called war on terror. Obviously you overlook what happens to Chinese citizens who voice anything even remotely anti government (like you). The reason there are more people in prison here is more likely because we don't execute everybody who voices their opinion such as YOU. I do have one question for you, after reading your articles and your views. Why do you choose to live here? If you hate it so much, why stay? You certainly aren't going to change anything with your views.

Craig:
It is hard to believe that you do not believe that Bruce Ivins is guilty.
I have begun to read "The Tyranny of Good Intentions". It seems to have some good
information. However, comparing Steven Emerson's 2002 description of Sami Al-Arian
in "American Jihad", I must question your fairness. Emerson seems to demonstrate that
Al-Arian is a jihadist at heart. The fact that a jury did not convict him of a particular crime
does not dissuade me from this conclusion. Furthermore, I see no reason to defend Bill
Gates and Microsoft. Gates is nothing but a used software salesman who has been able
to force his used software on a compliant public.
