Sir;... Clearly, the desire to make sport of the greatest possible tragedy in any human life for a personal gain, even at the price of abusing a whole religion and cultural group is beyond your power to resist... You are scummy beyond belief... You must know that many Islamic people have successful relationships... In fact, many of their societies are more peaceful and  enduring than our own... In some places it might be possible to expose valuables for hours in a public place without fear of theft.... When those people come here they can often build up successful businesses even in a hostile environment... Here in Michigan there are many of them, and they are an asset and improvement to the country... They are successful because the family ethic is essential to their culture... And no one can say that our society does not stress them.... No one can say that our corrosive culture does not tear at their families in the process of making them Americans.... I am certain what happened to Mo Hassan had much more to do with being a successful American than it did with his being a Muslim.... There are inevitable conflicts of culture....People coming into this society with one notion of rights finds another set of rights entirely... It does not mean they are not right, or we are wrong; but we are wrong to not consider the difficulty of transition, how painful it might by,  how destructive,  and how dangerous... Just as we go around the world expecting our notion of right will be honored; perhaps they should have some expectation that their traditional rights would be respected... There may  be no community rights in Pakistan... But Islam has always given rights to women...It is possible that the wife was taking far more than would ever have been her due under Islam; and that she knew it...If you could ask her today if  she should have been contented with her honor and her dowry back; I wonder what her answer would be.... In any event, your abuse is unworthy of an American... We open the door;  but we should know the past is impossible to leave behind....In fact, Islam is not only a religion; but an entire world view....Only time and our culture will wear it down among our own, but we should not condemn the casualties, but expect them...And pity them...
