Sir;... Do you have something against fairness??? This is a land where nearly every person has pledged allegiance to the flag, and to the republic behind it with liberty and justice for all... And you folks want the liberty without the Justice... You don't want the obligation of telling the truth, but you trouble not to pump out a lot of propaganda parading as truth to a bunch of gullible people raised on fried yard bird and Bible... I don't think there is much cure for gullibility, but some reality would help... If the clowns would sign off, and a fact checkers would sign on, and at least offer a peek at reality; then all the wind would eventually bleed out of your liars... You can lead a horse to water, and that is exactly what the government should mandate... THAT air space, IS our air space, and if some people take the profit out of it, then it should still serve a pure public purpose; and when radios sow division, and hate, and fear of fellow citizens, -when unity may some day be ALL that saves us from destruction; then those who divide, whether they claim our rights to do so, or not, are our enemies... I look at people like yourself who get behind lies and propaganda as no better than bank robbers, and worse, in fact because to steal money is a small thing when to steal the tranquility and peace of the people, and to deny them truth is a crime against us all and future generations... You do wrong, and it should not require a law to make you do right... Just quit it...Quit making a buck on our pain... Just find the facts, and let people draw their own conclusions... Thanks....Sweeney

Come on, Sweeney, are you saying that you favor government censorship? Because that is what the "Fairness Doctrine" is, controlling what information goes out over the airwaves. Especially as it applies to Political Speech, or didn't you ever discuss the First Amendment in school?
You are right about one thing, the airwaves belong to the people, and the PEOPLE should decide what goes out over them, NOT the government. That is done in this market by Ratings, and the Ratings show that most people want the Limbaughs, Hannitys, and O'Reillys rather than the Frankens, Rhodes, and Hennicans.
You apparently believe that all liberals only tell the truth, and that all conservatives lie. What an asinine viewpoint! In actuality, conservatives disagree with your viewpoint, and you just can't stand that, so, like Pelosi and other liberal Dems, you want to pass a law to stop conservatives from criticizing you. You want "factcheckers", but who will factcheck the factcheckers? The liberal FactCheck.org refutes conservatives' statements, then the MediaResearchCenter refutes FactCheck.org, then MediaMatters refutes the refutation, and NewsBusters refutes MediaMatters, ad infinitum and ad nauseum.
So get real. Get the information and opinion out there, let the people hear what they want to hear, and so be it.

Re: Nick_in_Virginia;... Sir, I am in favor of public property being used for the public good, and there is not part of mindless divisiveness, and determined misinformation that I think is in the public interest...The same thing might be said for advertizing, but if it is harmless, then develop the market, and make money on it for all I care... I don't care for the truth as an absolute, and such nonsense only keeps people from having the truth as a usable commodity... But, are we going to get the truth from our government??? Are we going to get it from business, or church??? Where do you go to for truth??? Is truth in the congressional record??? Do you go to the guy next door, or your priest, when for one, he has rejected reason in favor of faith??? People act on what they know, and vote on what they know even if it later proves to be false; and they are entitled to the truth from both government, and from public airwaves in private hands.. The burden of proof should rest with the station owners... If you tell the truth, and you can prove it, or even make a creditable case for truth as you see it; then fine, and no counter opinion should be required... But, people know when they are going over board, and they will not willingly defend themselves in court over malicious lies told for political gain or profit... What is the harm of an alternate opinion??? How is that censorship??? People present bald faced garbage clothed as truth, and you think they cannot afford the truth???? It is not that they cannot afford the truth, but they cannot bear the back lash... They do not want the light of truth shone on their lies and liars... That would ultimately ruin the business; if some one were to follow up, and say x, y, and z are false, and here is the evidence... Now; I am tired of the liberal leaning news media being maligned... From my point of view, I see them falling over right- trying to give a balanced report even when there is no other side to the story... They try, and for their trouble are all the more maligned... And the same is true of the educational establishment... What long term benefit do you suppose might inspire them to teach what is provably false??? Because, if found out; they lose all credibility... The right slams people who are not sycophants... They say it loud and say it often, even if it is false, crazy, or stupid, and because it is so often repeated without reply, it is accepted... It is not like working people have time to spend at a library finding the truth, or even have a library to find it in...They have to rely on something like the radio that is really a public utility, and it should be useful; and nothing on this earth is more useless than the false...Thanks...Sweeney
