Mr. Buckanan; You know, or should know, that life is punishment for many people, and especially slaves. How many slaves do you guess history could count, who smothered their child with their breasts rather than see it made a slave, and curse its life, and the mother who bore him?.. . Don't blame liberals for abortions. Blame the Christians who will not do what it takes; but will try to fix the problem with a law, another law made to punish slaves with even greater suffering. If you want to stop an abortion, adopt the mother as your daughter and bring her into your life, and then adopt the child as your child, and accept his life as a pearl of great value. These Christians, always ready to control others with law when their own morality, and the words of Christ slip off of them and into another dimension -are worse than criminals. If their religion meant something to them, they would not seek authority, as Jesus never sought authority; but neither would they seek wealth, as Jesus never sought wealth, but said: Sell all you own and follow me. These people are hypocrits, repeaters of words, the chorus in Greek Tragedies moved to America. What are their glad tidings? Make a law?!!!... What good has come of law? When abortions were illegal people were still getting abortions. And they will still get abortions, and they will still be cursing their miserable existences when true Christians, if there is such an animal in America, would pick them up and dust them off and say: sin no more.... Life means nothing to the right. They hate abortion, but love war. The Christian right is worse, demanding that people love life and bring life to others, and all the while they deny to people the bread of a meaningful existence. I promise you this: If you give people freedom, equality, and justice they will have lives they will want to share with all who come by. I curse those so called Christians that love the sin and hate the sinner. Quit hating those you would rather help. Do only what you can, and let God do the rest. Do not believe for an instant that there is a simple solution to any problem different in every instance. Look for an individual solution to each individual problem, as tiresome, and as thankless as that may be. First of all Sarah Palin is not going to be president if the GOP wins, McCain is. McCain is was pro-choice before he was pro-life. You know that. Secondly Jon McCain is EVERYTHING you have been railing about in the Republican party for the past few years. A McCain victory is more faith-based economics, NATO expansion AND potentially a new set of military obligations in that "leauge of Deomocracies" he has in mind. This is the antithesis of everything you have stood for. You can't advocate for her without advocating for him. As a fan I have to tell you I'm VERY disapointed in you.

If we concerned ourselves with our infant mortality rate with as much vigor as we do the issue of abortion maybe your stand would be more respectable. If we concerned ourselves with education, healthcare, global warming, and future economic potential, with as much vigor as we did with the issue of when life begins then your stand would be more respectable. When I watch clips of the interview of an aging beauty queen who has absolutely no right to be considered a Vice Presidential contender...I can only shake my head in wonder....

The Republicans, the party that uses the abortion issue as a litmus test of party loyalty, has controlled the White House for the last 8 years. The Republicans have controlled the Congress for the last 10 of 14 years and the Republicans have picked the last 7 of 7 justices to the Surpreme Court....

If you cannot overturn Roe vs. Wade in that scenario then reality is you cannot overturn Roe vs. Wade.

The real issue is whether the Republicans were ever sincere about overturning Roe vs. Wade or were they just that incompetent with power?

Given the facts that John McCain is 72 years old and has had cancer four times, and given that Sarah Palin has recently said that she would go to war with Russia over Georgia, and that Russia was the aggressor in the latest squrimish, is it possible that abortion will really drive this election? We are talking about nuclear war! The amount of "life" cost in abortion pales when compared to the complete devastation that would ensue, not only in war dead, but from disease and poverty that would follow. I know that abortion is important to religious republicans, but can it really trump a virtual guaranty of war with the second most powerful nation on the earth? It is inconceivable to me.

Re: Carl; Sir, why should they fix a problem that is their single largest source of votes. There are many single issue voters out there. If they could see how the republicans flip their switch and make them dance they would just stay home. In fact, many of them just want the easy solution. If they give a few bucks and a vote to the republicans they can act all moral and virtuous and let the light of God shine into their eyes. Hog wash. .. . There is no substitute for human relationships, and at least, many of those who are getting pregnant are trying to have love, admitting they need love, taking a chance for love, and trying to find some reason to carry on in a cruel and heartless world. The republican party does not care about them, and does not love them. They only want them to behave in a fashion they find morally acceptible. Well; wouldn't I like that of my whole country? But there is no living with immorality. If you allow it in economic matters it will effect every family, and hurt the whole nation. You cannot accept greed, thievery, and war; and think there will not be consequences in the lives of our most vulnerable. And even the whole question of when life begins is a red herring. We say all men are created equal, and even if we do not believe it, we mouth a filthy, destructive lie when we say so. People are not created. Life does not begin in the womb, but it began eons ago. Life makes life even if God made it originally. Parents give life to children, by choice, by choices, and some times without a choice. Our equality is not based upon God, or creation; but upon the reality of having nearly 100% of our genes in common, and upon our common acceptance of equality. So we should never lose sight of the fact that if law does not protect the living, and give them rights, then they have no rights or protection to give to their children. Why should anyone take you seriously? I rather like the idea of an attorney as the chief enforcer of the law. I would like to think he has something invested in it, like his licence. Bill Clinton came close to losing his licence, and it is a disgrace. So let us ask if Mr. Obama has done anything unworthy of an attorney, because with that title, he has proven himself intelligent, and educated; and I do not doubt he could handle the job of president well, with the opportunity, and the right support... I guess moral issues like abortion are the only cards the conservatives have left. The economy is in the sewer (and sinking) , we are engaged in a pointless war with a country that Never Ever had weapons of mass destruction - a war that has cost the lives of many good young American men and women and $341.4 million PER DAY - and the US's popularity in the world has never been at a lower point. I completely do understand how the conservatives even dare to open their mouths! This is a disgrace.
