Is Caroline Kennedy Senate worthy? Of course, the question is almost absurd.
In a sane society, people should pick their leaders from among the citizenry who have excelled.
Caroline Kennedy has excelled in every facet of her life. She has carried well the burdens of being the child and daughter of a beloved but assassinated President. A good student, lawyer, author, public speaker, wife and mother. She has lived in New York her entire life. And, her support for Barack Obama may well have been the difference, the turning point in the election, winning him or at least helping him win the nomination. She is independent minded and apparently rational, free of taint or suspicion, honest and above reproach.
Will she represent New York well? Who doubts that? In any event, She'd have to run again in less than two years, so the people will choose then, for sure.
May she also prove to be a breath of fresh air in a Senate overloaded with mostly male prima donnas some of whom seem to act as if they feel that mere lenght of political service equals entitlement from the people instead of service for the people? One could only hope so.
Someone should start a website dedicated to voting for Caroline. I am confident more NYers will check yes on that site than on any similar site for any other candidate.
Governor Patterson - please don't pass up this unique opportunity. DDC
