If Jeremiah Wright is a Prophet, Isaiah Wasn't

Were the controversial comments made by the Rev. Jeremiah Wright "prophetic"? That is the claim made by a large number of black and white clergy, by the head of the United Church of Christ and by many other defenders of Rev. Wright.

As summarized by the religion editor of the Kansas City Star (March 29, 2008):

Rev. Wright's statements are less scary to me than what all Christian leaders are prophesying, that we are living in the end times. Worse, we have a President who believes he is conducting a holy war and helping bring about the fulfillment of biblical prophecy. Christians, Jews, Muslims, all familiar with the prophecy of end times and Armagedon. All of them wondering if the Battle is at hand. I also think a person who "damn's" American is actually damning the leaders who have taken a great nation with great promise and led her almost to the point of destruction.
