You have to love the elitist chicken hawks who question leaders about "protecting" the building blocks of society. Why don't you be a man and protect your family instead of relying on the blood sweat and tears of military. 1-800-GOARMY. Do your part you spoiled elitist chicken hawk. The military can always use a new rifleman. But, you are probably to much of a wimp to do that. Instead you would rather hide behind your desk and critic those that put there money where their mouth is.

What the general war against Islamofascism needs is for Ben Shapiro to step away from his computer keyboard and join the infantry and fight on the front lines against it.
Perhaps after a stint doing that, and provided he survives, he can come back and right a rationale, reasonable, logical and sensible piece about the need for security, rather than this jingoistic, idiotic drivel that portends nothing but the worst for his future children, for a total idiot often begets more of the same, and based on this column so full of pretension justified with smarmy personal reflection he is a war-mongering idiot.
An idiot of the worst kind, because he somehow was able to remain utterly uneducated about reality of other people's lives and reality in general. while earning a law degree hmmm.

Mr. Shapiro; since you do not have leaders in the same column as the armed guard, am I safe to assume the leaders will not be laying their lives on the line for little profit? The problem with your ideal society is that it is the destruction of society. Look at Greece, look at Rome, look at the Anglo Saxons, and even look at Israel in the time of Jesus. That place was divided. They had their hierarchies of privilage, and wealth. People were bringing lawsuits to take tunics from the poor. Jesus said: give them your pants, too. This was Israel, and the place was barren and poverty strickened, and sitting on a great big pile of wealth. When the Romans took the place, there was enough loot to build the colloseum, which was a huge building project. Don't you get how Judea weakened itself before its enemies? It was already half starved because those with the power and the money justified the division of society.
Look at how the Anglo Saxons were bowed to make kings rich and powerful. Does it not strike you that in doing so they robbed the vitality from their people with the help of the teachers, the Church, and their shire reeves? A free and vibrant people almost turned them all into slaves, and the later Normans pretty much completed the process, making Anglo Saxons wear an iron collar, like dogs, to show they were servile. Every society that wants its own destruction denies the self government and equality of all the people and sets about building classes with fine distinctions between citizens. Hierarchies are death to civiliations, natural only in the sense that civilizations are built by conquered people, ruled over by victors. But, look at the empires and the empire builders. Stalin, Elizabeth, and Napoleon, and hitler to name a few; first conquered their own people, and made them submit before going to war with the world. We have our leaders, but they have little to recommend them. Most of them are stuck in a pipe dream. But, this class division, and this hierarchie of power in every organization and institution is death. If your leaders were followers they would be careful where they went. If your teachers suffered consequences for the nonsense they preach they would be careful with their words. Only the guards have consequences, and because of your ideal class division, there is very little communication between those who must do and do without; and those who would lead them. And what we are finding in this country is that those with the money refuse to see themselves taxed beyond a token. They will not support the land and thepeople who feed them. So those with the least, and the least to gain fight our wars, and suffer injury and death for all they will never own. No democracy is possible without equality. When those people who are blessed with money think they are born leaders, and that they can tell better what the people need than the people who need can; then they lead where no one should go. Equality is the life of any nation. As soon as wealth becomes unequal, political power becomes unequal, and then wealth becomes more unequal still, until before long you have your ideal society; as we do now, on its death bed. It is nice to know some one thinks this misery, antagonism, and frustration is great news. That's one. Who's number two???. Sweeney

God, do I feel bad for his wife. Is it me, or does this young-man strike you as the kind of person who happily waits a quarter century for his first unclothed encounter with a member of the opposite gender? It would certainly explain his frustrations towards life that he insists he whine about week after week. By the way, I didn't even notice his column was missing last week, and I'm willing to bet 300,000,000 other Americans probably didn't notice either.

Congratulations on your marriage, Ben. I don't expect you to understand this, but there IS an armed guard at the gate. Stronger, mightier, and far more powerful than men with guns. As nothing can bring Him down, my thought is if the country falls, it will not be because it wasn't protected, it will be because it wasn't worth protecting.

Wow! The comments on here are why I stopped being a liberal. Personal attacks, calling them names, advocating violence against people who don't share your liberal views, etc. Liberals can't argue with facts or on merits, because they have none.

Re: Jerry
Typical childish ad hominem attacks from liberals. So what if he was still a virgin until he was married? Most people were in the old days. At least he's no producing welfare children for taxpayers to take care of. At least he's not a player or a user or just looking to get laid. Funny how liberals hate conservatives, yet on every conservative site it's filled with liberal types. If conservatives are so stupid, why do you waste your time talking with us? Huh?
