How Can a 'Fellow Black American' Oppose Obama?
by Larry Elder
Mr. Elder,
I am shocked that you oppose Barack Obama and belong to the Republican Party. We must get over ourselves and realize there is room at the top for everyone and we must get there by helping each other — instead of agreeing with policies and old politics that are proven not to work.
To endorse John McCain, a person who will not make it easier for the underprivileged, is just too much. How can a fellow black American feel this way?

Another excellent writer has gone out of his way to write at length about Obama, Thomas Sowell;

Re: USMCMOEIt appauls me how many black americans claim to be christian and follow a man who is all for a man who is not pro life. I was also astonishied as a mixed woman....to have someone say to me...vote for him because he is also mixed. I want to know some reasons from all the blacks why obama would be a good canidate...other that the fact he is black...As black americans we should be trying to secure our futures as well as the futers of our children...instead of wanting to make history. For instance...i have asked a great number of my BLACK friends why they choose to vote for him, and it is for the simple reason that he is a person of color. Not one of these people could tell me issues he stood for . I am soly embarassed as a black woman to think that people are voting on race not moral....does this mean I am abandoning the black race...NO i stronly belive that obama contradicts himself too much, and as one of the few black republicans ...I stand tall in sayin no i will not vote barack this year...I cant stand the thought of putting a blck man in office...when if u look @ hisory he isnt even "For the people"....just a final thought...say universal healthcare does come about ...then what ...I believe you work...and earn your keep...it shoyuldnt be handed to you...maybe a bible should be picked up by the democratic pary once and a while

I would love to see a person of color as President ... just not this person of color. I've made that statement before and I stand by it. Obama, no matter what color he might be, is simply not fit to command, and "dat's da fact Jack". "Underprivileged", well if you choose to think that way then you will be that way. Voting for Obama because he is the color you are is the heighth of stupidity and I reject that thought. Democrats have depended on Blacks and other minorities with the feeling of being "underprivileged" to look to them for help because Democrats believe that no minority is capable of achieving on his/her own without the help of Government.
