Hookers Over Censors

by David Harsanyi

The first case of prostitution probably dates back to the Paleolithic era, and the last instance of quid pro sexus most likely will take place whenever it is that human civilization finally expires.

The mere existence of crime is not ample justification to ignore it, of course, but most of us would concede that banning ads from the "erotic services" section of Craigslist will bring only a negligible change in the bottom line in harlotry.

So the crusade by 40 state atto ...

good article. our elected officials are catering to the sterile . the conservative purists who do their screwing in a closet while their trophy wives hold their coats. sex, human touch and physical interaction are not only desirable by all healthy humans but are necessary. we can't all have campaign workers and office assistants to screw when we feel like it. sex is fun when safely performed. the world would be much happier with more sex and less shame and guilt. if our politicians want to protect me from the nastier types in the world then they should quit and move somewhere else to live. it seems like governments are always looking for a reason to get into our lives and our wallets. money for sex, why not. it's one of the few honest transactions left that isn't taxed. thanks, bob

Sir;...I do not want to rise in defense of prostitution... Quite the opposite; but Craigs list is not the problem...I will stand opposed to the notion that congress should ever make a law for the benefit of single individuals, or even probable small numbers of individuals....Is there really an issue around children being driven to suiicide??? Are there not some remedies already for children driven to suicide by adults??? But to see the congress able to get together to aid dead individuals while millions wait for good government is a savage spectacle...As far as the desire to end prostitution; it should not come at the loss of civil rights, and I will suggest that the congress licks its lips, and tears into rights at every opportunity, and this is but the latest example... But we do not need a law to rid ourselves of prostitution...All we need is justice... It cannot be shown where sexual injustice does not attend economic injustice...If you want to end sexual injustice, all you have to do is get rid of capitalism... People trade sexual intimacy to avoid pointless labor that is better than slavery in name only...Prostitution can be better defended than capitalism because the damage is less, the pollution is less and the risk of war is less... It is hardly of benefit long term to either party, but it is obviously preferable to relationships sterile in fact and seeming sterile as well...To me, there is much more hope in prostitution than in capitalism...Capitalism is just another name for death... Thanks...Sweeney
