As usual, Mr. Bozell never lets the facts get in the way of skewering his favorite target, the entertainment industry. For one thing, Bozell fails to mention that Polanski left the United States because he got word that the judge who sentenced him, doubtless under political pressure, was going to renege on the plea-bargain deal and basically throw the book at Polanski, for which he could have spent the rest of his life in prison. Bozell also incorrectly refers to Soon-Yi Previn as Woody Allen's "adopted stepdaughter," when in fact she was the adopted child of his GIRLFRIEND, not wife. There was no legal relationship between Woody and Soon-Yi until they married.

Bozell also didn't mention that the 13-year-old girl Polanski had sex with is now a middle-aged married woman with grown children of her own, and that she has publicly forgiven Polanski for what he did and has offered to appear as a character witness IN HIS DEFENSE. And finally, while it's a gross exaggeration to say "Europe favors pedophilia," it's a fact that age-of-consent laws and customs vary widely from from one country to another, and even from state to state within the U.S. Is a 13-year-old capable of giving consent? In most cases, probably not. But all instances of adults having sex with minors ought to be judged individually, on a case-by-case basis. You can't have one-size-fits-all justice.
